Hey guys, I’ve done some research and tried a lot of different things and I’m still unsure what the best way to improve my obliques is. They seem to be too blocky and wide. I found some ideas on how to improve them, but I don’t know if any of them will solve this problem:
1) Could changing my oblique training solve this? I've tried a lot of different exercises and adjusted a lot of different things about my oblique training and I've yet to find anything that works.
2) I currently do heavy deadlifts, straight leg deadlifts, and squats each week. I’ve heard some people say that these exercises can cause this type of problem, although if possible I'd prefer to keep doing them and find another way to solve this.
3) Am I just being too paranoid or overly critical about my obliques? I included pictures of myself for you to evaluate. No matter how much body fat I’ve lost my obliques still seem to be too blocky and wide. If I can improve my physique enough I’m interested in modeling, but I’m unsure if improving my obliques is one of the things that I need to focus on in order to have a chance to do that.
4) Are my obliques fine and the only reason that they look wide in the first picture because of the camera angle?
Right now I seem to be stuck and I don’t understand how to evaluate this to decide what I need to do. Any advice from someone who understands this better then I do would be greatly appreciated.
