do cigarettes affect muscle growth?

i like to have a few cigs after i smoke some green...hehe but i dont wanna hurt my growth and will stop smoking the cigs if they do, i just smoke them to increase my weed buzz... so what do you'll think?:p
 
i beleive that they affect oxygen levels obviously which make it harder to train,but as far as affecting muscle growth in a negative way...i doubt it...but then again,i'm only speaking of experience...my bud actually smokes quite a bit (1/2 pack a day)...and he's quite big (230 lbs @ 11%BF)...
 
Yes, I'm pretty sure it does. It impacts hormone levels or something to that extent I believe. Bad all all around bro. If you can drop the habit then just fucking do it.
 
One more reason would be, I speculate, that your body has enough to do in healing itself from your workouts, plus your liver is probably healing itself from the gear, and you want to throw in some lung damage that needs repairing too?
 
I believe it does for the following:

A friend of mine has been smoking for 25 years (older guy) and when he had blood drawn his blood was very dark. The doc told him it was from the lack of oxgyen in his blood and the high levels of nicotine. He had an accident and the doc told him to quit smoking because his body would heal faster. With this in mind, I would have to guess that since we "damage" muscles by working out - it would hinder the re-growth.
Besides smoking is for boneheads. This is just my .02 of course. . .
 
Here's a few things to consider (just my 2 cebts worth, anyway)

Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor. It inhibits circulation, therefore it has to inhibit your body's ability to absorb nutrients...

Nicotine is believed to be more physiologically and mentally addictive than heroine, cocaine or alcohol.

I used to LOVE smoking some good green bud and then having a few cigarettes to enhance the buzz. I quit smoking weed altogether a long, long time ago - I guess it just got old - I didn't get old, getting stoned did. When I quit, I just quit. It was easy.

I kept smoking cigarettes for about 4 years after I gave up pot. I think I somehow associated cigarettes with the buzz I used to get from weed and got into smoking about 1/2 pack a day.

My dad's an ex-smoker. He never had another cigarette after his funeral a few years ago (he died from cardiovascular disease caused by cigarettes). I gave up smoking a few months after we buried him.

If you can quit now, you should. 'Nuff said.
 
smoking stunts your growth peroid! the difference in training and smoking VS not smoking is like nite & day!!!RADAR
 
this is all true or most of it., but I believe once upon a time their was a post outlineing that smokeing increases TEST or muscle growth...

either way it kills your body slowly, so do the math
 
I just figure if you are going to spend all this time dedicated to the gym and to your diet, then why ruin it by smoking?
 
i'm embarrassed to say it, but I have smoked for 20 years. Can still put on a shitload of muscle and I look like i'm 18 (body wise anyway lol) quit em if you can..........I would. but keep pumping iron regardless. good luck
