do chest pressing exercises really "deform" implants?

hey everyone!

i generally get on this site and research any questions that i might have. although, i cannot seem to find the answer to this one. The woman's discussion board seems pretty safe to post this kind of question, and i am pretty sure i will get serious answers. and if not, i am sure warlobo will take care of them! :) i have implants (under the muscle) and i have always heard that if i do pressing chest exercises (like bench press), that my musles will push the implants down and make my breats look "pushed down". i do not want to look like this! i really miss doing those type of exercises, and since my implants (3 yrs ago), i have only been doing cables and exercies of that nature. is that really true?

implants...

hi...i too have had my implants around 3 years now. they are also under the muscle and i have noticed that they have shifted somewhat from chest pressing movements that i used to do....now i only do high inclined barbell presses (about a 55 degree incl.) and 45 degree incl flyes...sometimes presses also...(db) and it seems to have stopped the problem i was seeing. i'm having them (implants) re done in around a month or two...probably on top this time.....hope this helped a little!:)

The pressing may help to expand a pocket under the muscle that the implant may move around in. I doubt if it would flatten out the implant, but might cause more movement. I would also think that thicker pecs might cause some flattening.

You'll find differing opinions, but over the muscle silicone is the way to go in women lifters in my opinion. Ask new@.

My Implants are above the muscle, and the implants dropped a lot when I had my kid, after getting back in the gym, they have sinced raised back and are perkier than ever :) But again, mine are on top :)

thanks for the feedback you guys!!! :) it sounds like it really might push them down :( i am too scared to try. if i lifted a lot more (ie competitions, etc), i think i would have gone with above the muscle implants. but i mainly lift to stay "tone and fit". plus, i like the look and feel of under the muscle implants. i think they look more natural. i just so miss that sore feeling in that part of my chest after a good chest workout!!!

I have had mine a year in Feb., under the muscle. I have continued with all the chest exercises....flat, incline,decline.....etc. Havent noticed any major shifting or changes...... I plan to go back in a couple of years to a bigger size anyway, so I go full out on chest day anyhow :D

I got mine under the muscle 2 years ago - I did 2 natural comps last year and didnt' notice anything as far as moving around. Just that they get sore around the edges when my body fat is really low. I haven't been able to get a good pump in a while and I never really got that nice split in my pecs following the surgery. I asked my doc about it - he didn't say the surgery would affect my pec developmnet. But then he isn't a sports doc either. The above responses from the under ladies sounds like it makes sense... The only thing I've changed in my workouts recently is cutting out flat bench presses & flyes due to sore shoulders.

Nice to see you started posting ashe ... by the way I think it's physically impossible to ever damage YOUR breasts. They are just to dam perfect to every become screwed up:D

I don't know about actual damage to the implant itself, but over time, if your implants are under the muscle THEY WILL SHIFT. Mine went down a bit and out to the sides... makes me a little nervous, but I am told all the time that they look totally natural (get that from women a lot... men don't really count because only one sees them naked.). I would LOVE to get a redo - silicone, but I don't know if I would ever be a candidate to have them go over the muscle as my skin quality is so poor from nursing all those rugrats... hehehehhehe. Right now though, my priorities are a bit different. So it is THE LAST thing I think about these days.

*gasp*....bikinimom....don't tell me that! you are scaring me! how long have you had yours? mine have not moved yet (other than the normal dropping after surgery) i don't know if that is because i don't do the pressing chest exercises or if that just differs from person to person?!?!?! i am really happy with the way they look. i just miss that split down my chest, but i can get over that if it runs the risk of pushing the implants down!

and for you buld0g....i don't think your body could ever get screwed up either....purrr....i'll talk to you later hot stuff!!! :p
