Difference between cycles: gold era and now?

Hi guys , i was thinking about the differences between cycles in golden era and nowadays...
Because in the golden era they had that big chest and smaller shoulder and arms bigger than shoulder ,super small waist and smaller traps, insted nowadays bodybuilders have very big shoulder but not so impressive chest, crazy traps and shoulder are big as arms or even bigger...

What are you considering the "golden days?" 60's? 70's? 80's? 90's? because it changed throughout.

I'd say back in the golden era it was about hard work and genetics.. with a little bit of primo and dbol to give you an edge.

Now a days, it is like a science experiment. There is still hard work.. but with enough GH and Slin.. anyone can turn into a monster; and the guys with the genetics turn into mutants.

remember the pictures and videos you see of that time are the best of the best.

the average schmuck in those days wasn't in the same league as a lot of meatheads if you go to any decent gym

now having said that what separated someone like Samir bannout who won mr Olympia at 195 pounds vs. the Ronnie's and jay's of the past decade? easy.. slin +HGH and extremely easy access to grams of gear for almost nothing.

if Arnold had access to the same shit those guys have today then I bet he would be almost 300 too

I am assuming by 'golden area' you mean Arnold. The biggest difference between Arnold's era and the current era is insulin. Arnold actually used HGH towards the end of his career.

It's the insulin that is causing the distended abdomens in today's sport. Insulin is extremely anabolic, but there are a large amount of insulin receptors on the abdomen. Insulin abuse also leads to insulin resistance which increases visceral fat storage in the abdomen.

I never heard of Arnold using HGH. From my understanding, the early versions were extracted from cadavers and that was circa middle 80's -- after Arnold retired. He's most probably using it NOW.

And Steve brings up a good point. Guys like Scott and Zane and Oliva -- they were the best of the best and at a time when most people didn't even work out.

Having said that, there is something special about building most of your development naturally, and then adding juice for some polish as opposed to depending on it from the start. And dosages were definitely lower back then.

Realize also, guys lifted weights back then to compensate for being small. Today, more guys are bigger because they're starting out bigger. A perfect physique did not include huge traps. And a small waist was a must. Plus, the modern guys really pushed the limits of leg development.

Everything is pretty simple - nowadays there is access to many more compounds, some of which are extremely potent, additional knowledge (be it about training, nutrition, or training), and the fact that today Mr. Olympias only need size, and the proportions are barely taken into account. I am pretty sure that if the older requirements for proportions remained, the Mr. Olympia contests would look rather different.

I really like the physiques of Arnold's day. The small waist and big upper body looks much better to me than these GH guts of today. There is nothing worse than a distended gut in my opinion.
