Diet coke and dieting

I'm 7 weeks out from a show and I drink diet coke like crazy. Around 2 litres a day. Aspartame is a sugar free alternative but the glycemic research institute says that "aspartame Equal, Splenda, and Sweet 'N Low packets contain high glycemic fattening ingredients. Their number one ingredients are dextrose and maltodextrins which are known to stimulate fat-storage and elevate insulin". Anybody here who has competed and drank diet coke at the same time.

Thanks,
Wiggum

I have a diet coke habit also...
I've read that caffine and Aspartame will cause insulin spikes...
Accorinding to Dr. Atkins ( for whatever thats worth)

From personal experience I think it slows fat loss, but maybe that's just me.

now something is fucked up big time here. either the index you got this from is wrong or the people that make diet pop are lying about the daily values. if their number one ingredient is dextrose then the pop would have calories, since dextrose is a sugar. and sugar=carbohydrate and carbs=4 calories per gram. i am willing to say that index was wrong.

i am a diet pop fiend. but 7 weeks out you should cut that out. you should only be drinking distilled water. if you are on a regular diet by all means hit it up.

I read that using diet coke isn´t very good, because it increases the insulin level which will decrease the blood sugar ( don´t know if that´s the correct term) since no sugar is provided from the drink.
That effect will make u hungry.
I also heard that aspartam is used to fatten pigs, though in higher doses.

WTF?

No calories = no isulin repsonse as far as I can guess. Am I wrong? I am a diet pepsi fiend, but I drink ceffiene-free almost all the time now so I don't dehydrate. I find when I go from a good daily caffiene intake to none at all, I am a bit irritable and feel tired and sluggish at times, but it subsides quickly, within a few days to a week. I just started a cycle, so I've been drinking just water almost entirley. Anyone else with some insight?

Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To compare the effects of aspartame-sweetened and sucrose-sweetened soft drinks on food intake and appetite ratings of female restrained eaters. SUBJECTS: Fourteen female students, shown to have eating restraint. METHODS: Subjects were given four drinks (330 ml) of aspartame-sweetened lemonade, sucrose-sweetened lemonade and carbonated mineral water on three separate days. Seven of the subjects were informed of the drink type they were consuming on each occasion.
MEASUREMENTS:
Appetite ratings were recorded and energy and macronutrient intakes were measured during the study day and day after leaving the department.
RESULTS:
During the first study day energy intake was lower whilst drinking the sucrose-sweetened lemonade compared with the aspartame-sweetened lemonade, although neither differed significantly from energy intakes during the day they drank water. When the calories from the sucrose-sweetened lemonade were included (1381 kJ, 330 Kcal) energy intake did not differ between treatments. The following day energy intake was significantly higher after the aspartame-sweetened lemonade compared with both sucrose-sweetened lemonade and the water due to an increase in the amount of carbohydrate consumed and resulted in a higher total energy intake over the two days studied. Knowledge of the drink types had no
effect on energy intake or macronutrient intake. Appetite ratings did not differ between drinks and were not affected by knowledge of the drink types. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that in females with eating restraint, substituting sucrose-sweetened drinks for diet drinks does not reduce total energy intake and may even result in a higher intake during the subsequent day.

i've got down t 6% bf drinking 1 gallon of diet coke a day. i even posted the pics. Besides that, if you think aspartame gives insulin response you shouldn't be drinking protein shakes either.

Thanks guys,
I thought no carbs meant no calories and thus no risk of insulin spike.
However, mabybe the ingredients dextrose and maltodextrins don't need calories to cause the spike, fuck i'm a business major not a scientist, anyways diet coke all around, i love the shit.

Aristotle,
your not competing are you
the handicapped, autistic/downs international amateur isn't until next winter, you must be getting ready early. Even in that comp, you still have to diet though. Are you going to put protan on your hockey helmet.
