Diet after surgery

Hey ladies! I'm going in for breast augmentation May 16th. My surgeon told me to hold off on strenuous exercise for at least a week or even up to three depending on how I feel. I'm not used to being away for more than a day or two, so I'm worried that everything I eat is going to be converted straight to fat. What do you recommend for my diet for these three weeks? I was thinking of making a bunch of protein pancakes and freezing them and eating alot of greens and chicken. These are already staples, and I don't know how to clean it up anymore or what would be easiest and least painful to make. I just really want to avoid any fat storage and pain preparing m y meals. I am currently taking Glucorell and will stop after dinner tomorrow. I'm not sure if it's ok to continue on taking. Also if anyone has any tips like... easiest ways to get up and out of bed, what to keep accessible, showering, brushing teeth, and other little things.
Here are my stats: 5 4" 103lbs. body fat 16% 24yrs.old

Thx,
Drea :)

Are you going w/ 'overs' or 'unders' - that will (outside of any other complications) determine your recovery time. I did under the muscle and really didnt' want to move for like 3 days, and then another 2 weeks at least in discomfort and a total of 3 weeks of very careful & deliberate movements. The first day back you don't want to eat anything anyway. You may experience some bloating for the first week from the anesthesia. This you can deal w/ by taking a fiber mix to help reduce the bloat, bit just remember your body just went thru trauma so you do need to let it go thru its recovery process. Its not "fat" - just water and its just uncomfortable. Its not forever.

Really unless you eat an amazingly shitty diet, its pretty hard to get "fat" in 3 weeks or less. Just pay attention to possible "depression eating" (sometimes you can experience a small detox if you were on the pain killers for a while) and keep yourself occupied. You may just not want to move so much - so just like w/ training - you need to include recovery time as well. If you feel like your progress is only going to continue if you spend half your life in a lifting frenzy in the gym, you are not paying attention to the recovery aspect of it all (overtraining = under recovery). And frankly, your body is goign to demand some recovery time anyway, whether you think you need to be in the gym because "you always are" or whatever. If you dont' allow it the recovery time, it will most certainly take it whether you like it or not.

Pretty simple. :)

And also remember that a couple pounds or bf % increase is not life or death. You just get back in the gym. You also will have to figure out how to train w/ the new girls too. For ex, forget doing chest for a while. I had to double strap in the girls w/ tight sports bras before I could do anything remotely like running or bouncing on cardio eqpt. You even have to adapt to sleeping a new way and literally deal w/ a new center of gravity on your body. Its not hard, but it does take time to adapt. You had invasive surgery! Relax! Let your body heal! Its all good!

What Sassy said!!

Also make sure you have some help for the 1st day or two afterwards......I've had surgery 2x for different things & both times I found it difficult to get out of bed on my own, as well as being able to use the bathroom....

Do whatever you can to make yourself comfortable post surgery - regardless of the reason - you are still having a MAJOR surgical procedure, so lying about for a week WILL NOT hurt you. If you're a regular at the gym, consider this a rest period, which is always good for the body.

You may want to also consider splitting your meals into even smaller portions because you'll be on meds of which most say to take with food. Don't want an upset stomach. And keep some SF Lifesavers closeby for the post-anesthesia cotton mouth.

Hey ladies! Thanks for the response. My surgeon recommended that for my size I do under the muscle with high profile saline, the incision being under the breast.
I know I need this time to recover completely, though I do want to get back as soon as I feel well enough!! I'm sure it won't be for a while. I'm nervous for the change in my routine and the adjustment of my new additions, but I'm soooo excited. Also I'm running a half marathon Oct 14th my Dr. and a few friends said I should be back to training by the end of June. Does that sound right? Oh, and Sassy when could you bench and do pull-ups agian?

That probably sounds fair - I know I was out partying all weekend w/ no bra on within 3 weeks. I had mine done (pretty much same as your doc recommends) Jan 14 2000. I started prepping for my first BB competition by April, competing in August. I will tell you that it takes a while to first break up the scar tissue so you can actually do anything that involves flexing your pec muscles. Remember there's some new stuff in there that you have to sort of relearn how to work around. That feels sort of gross - like there's a balloon in there getting squished. You will also go thru a longer phase of nerve regeneration. At first it's like random shooting pains and eventually lessens. But between that, the tension in the pec muscle and the sort of random muscle spasms during a lift that just make it take time. You can start working towards it once you've cleared well after 4-6 weeks. Your doc will tell you all about how you don't want to raise your arms above shoulder level for the first few weeks. You can't anyway. This all passes fairly quickly and its more just soreness. The biggest annoyance was trying to look behind me to back up or to turn left / right while driving. That lasted for awhile - but that gives you an idea of the tightness that you will just have to deal w/ until the scar tissue breaks up more and your muscles have accommodated the implants. And as far as running just make sure you strap the girls in good & tight.

If you don't know already, for your first couple days out of surgery, you'll have lots of swelling & bruisng -- bags of frozen peas are your best ice pack. The first 2 days I vaguely recall eating a little oatmeal &things like that. It just hurts to exist. Feels like an elephant on your chest who farts electric shocks randomly. I stayed in a recliner chair, including sleeping because it hurt too much to try to pull myself up to get to the bathroom. But after 2 days of that my back was so sore I had a friend who was a massage therapist come over and give me a good massage (sitting up of course).

And then before you know it you're out shopping for your first 34-D bra and laughing as you walk by the WonderBra stands. Then you start hitting the slutty dress departments. Then you head for the swimsuit stores.

Apparently thong bikinis are no longer in style -- well I was living in Ft. Lauderdale at the time, so you KNOW there are tourists from the spring of 2000 who have an unknown blonde girl in a blue thong flashing new boobages in their home videos of their vacation to S. Florida....!

Hi drea,

Can you tell me what high profile saline is? Had implants back in '94 but i never heard of that expression, is it new?

Thx for your response!

Hey girly girl. The high profile saline implant is a saline filled mentor brand implant that is more round in shape. There are low, medium and high. The others are flatter in appearance. Now, my doc suggests I get one med. profile and one high do to the fact I have an asymmetry. Hopefully I answered your ?

What kind do you have, and how has your experience been? I hear most people generally have to go back for additional surgeries around the ten year mark.

Thanks Sassy for all the info!!! I'm reading your reply at work and can't stop laughing about your description of the elephant sitting on your chest who randomly farts electric shocks!!! Too funny!!

It will blow your mind just how apt that description is. Only for a few seconds when I came out from the knock out drugs was i thinking OMG what did I just do to myself? But it actually passed very quickly. In the big picture - its only a day or two of really annoying stuff. But initially its pretty wild.
