You breast feed right?

He decided to bite.
You slugged him in the eye.
HEATHER!!

I will have something to mail him on Monday.

I get the feeling the breast feeding is gonna stop reeeeal soon!

Did he get a small grade temp. and mushy poops when he was cutting his new teefers? Bri would do the above on every tooth!

He scratched himself the other day.

Yes, and of course I took off work and ran him to the pediatrician.

I'm literally in the Dr's office once every 2 weeks, at least.

Wow! She is holding her own bottle already? That is something else. How old is she? She is so little. What a cutie.

She will be 7 weeks old this Saturday. She wasn't due until tommorow, so she's a preemie. She came out 5.3lbs and is now about 8lbs.

Wait until he figures out how to grit his teeth. It drives me crazy to no end. I try not to give our daughter the pacifier unless it's time for bed but when she starts going at it, I gotta give it to her

Devin won't take a pacifier. He just spits them right back out in about 2 seconds. He doesn't like them.

My baby is almost 6 months and still can't hold his own bottle! Wow!

He only gets a bottle at daycare, though, so maybe that is why.

i LOVE LOVE LOVE the pic of Devin with his foot in his mouth! :)
Thanks! He loves to suck his own toes...lol. He does it any time I take his socks off.

You need to buy the book: " What to Expect the First Year" by Sandee Hathaway-Arlene Eisenberg and Heidi Murkoff. My ped told me to buy this book, so I did. But then again, I read it and had myself talked into her having most of the crap they refered too in the damn book. lol

yeah, I have that book. I'm still in the ped office all the time. Devin has an ear infection that won't go away, and I think he is going to have to get tubes in his ears. So, he's been on antibiotics FOREVER.

OH NO! I hope that the lil guy does NOT have to have tubes. Did they try another form of antibiotic yet?

I've tried 4 kinds of antibiotics already. I'm hoping to avoid the tubes. Poor little thing. At least now it isn't hurting him. The doc says that they look congested but not painful. Devin isn't tugging his ears now or seeming uncomfortable, but they are just infected.

Oh sure, blame it on the cute baby. No one ever persecutes or bashes cute babies. It's the .... girl you better put that down. I ain't playing wid you. Don't you go throwing that at me.

Okay, I CONFESS. Please don't call the authorities!

Have you tried giving him decongestants if he sounds a bit congested? (Just askin - I'm not a dr.) The reason why some young children get so many ear infections is because of the eustachian tube being level. When they are small (size of the skull) the tubes are level with the back of their throats (ENT shtuff). As their heads grow the angle of the eustachian tube goes down so congestion can drain and reduce the incidence of ear infections. Please ask your pediatrician to explain it better. To see an illustration of the difference between the head of an infant/small child and that of an older child/adult will demonstrate exactly what I am talking about.

My sister and I both swore by this sort of preventative treatment of ear infections for all seven of our children. I learned this from my pediatrician. This is not an old wive's tale.

I hope that this helps you two!

Poor kid. I hope that he gets over this and he never has the problem again.

There is NOTHING worse than a sick child- NOTHING. I bet you spent a few nights crying along with him. Poor lil guy- they are so damn helpless.

What decongestants did you use? I asked the doc that, and he didn't prescribe any. I just keep getting more antibiotics and the ear drops that only numb the ears if they hurt.

I looked at over the counter decongestants before for him, because he always sounds raspy, but none of them have dosages for babies as young as him.

Luckily, even when he is sick, nursing puts him under a spell and he goes off to sleep pretty well. Yeah, though, when he really cries over something, I run to the doctors or the ER everytime. He RARELY complains or cries over anything, so I freak out when he does.

I just used whatever OTC non-name brand stuff there was to be honest. I don't understand why a pediatrician would perscribe antibiotic after antibiotic (it is a known fact that many children/people are becoming resistant to them because of their over use) and also pain meds but won't perscribe an decongestant. Please do your own research so that you can make a 100% informed decision (in other words please don't go by just what I tell you) but I feel that the question I just asked is a valid one for YOU to ask your pediatrician and if he doesn't give you a DAMNED GOOD ANSWER I suggest you find another pediatrician.

Sounds a lot like me. Are you sure that kid isn't mine?

Yeah, I will ask. I have a follow up appointment in another week.

Thanks for that detailed reply.

He had RSV a couple of months ago and has been raspy ever since then. They say that is lingers for a long time. I think it contributed to the ear problem.

Yep, it's in the cry. TO this day I can tell when Bri is really hurt, or just kinda hurt. Us mom's know that certain "cry".

In regards to Kini's idea:
I use to have a dose chart for OTC drugs that my ped gave me. I'll check tonight to see if I kept it. I'll e-mail it to you IF I find it! It went by weights NOT ages- it listed a ton of OTC drugs for small babies!

Ear tubes are probably the most (if not second most) common procedures in children. A vast majority of the ear infections come from allowing babies to lay down while drinking a bottle.

It's a stressful thing for sure, for both of you. But there have been cases where if you wait to late to get them, it can have a last affect on speech development and sometimes lead to permanent hearing loss.

His symptoms sound like otitis media with effusion (sp?).

Oh, that would be GREAT if you can find it.

I don't think his is that bad yet, but I'm nervous about all the things that could happen if I can't get it to go away.

My daughter has had a stuffy nose for about a month, usually at it's worst during the night. We use saleen drops, the brain sucker and a humidifier. Yet her condition stays the same.

Mine hardly even notices that they are giving him shots. Seriously, he wimpers for about 2 seconds and just barely even makes a fuss.

As you can see, he has chubby little legs. :lmao:

Ethan has a big belly and a big head. Arms and legs are long and super skinny. Poor guy.

Thanks for trying to find it. Now that I know such a thing exists, I may be able to get my hands on one with some research. =-)
