Developing Abs

Hey all,

This being my first post I'd like to thank everyone that posts on this board, I've learned a lot in my few weeks here :)

I have a question about ab development ... my abs are pretty bad in terms of shape: It looks like I have a five-pack with one side looking normal and the other side having a huge top ab and a normal sized bottom one. I don't work them out a lot, so that could be part of the problem, but the reason I don't work them out is because I think I'm exercising them the wrong way and would worsen their shape.

Is this just a genetics problem? Are there exercises that isolate different parts of the ab muscle so that I can sort of even them out?

Thanks a lot, any advice is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like genetics to me. Some people say you can isolate the upper or lower abs with different exercises, but I don't know much about isolating a side.

just do weighted situps on a slant board, if it doesnt even out over time, it never will, genetics can really suck sometimes

The problem is probably more apparent to you than to anyone else. Consider yourself lucky you can see them at all, without training.

Abs are usually asymmetrical. Open a muscle magazine and most of the abs you'll see will be the same. Some pros have some truly fucked up looking abs.

lol. A perfectly symetrical six pack is a rarity, then there are those perfect 8 pack genetic freaks :)

Seen quite a few where there are 5 obvious sections like you. Probably can't do anything about it, just be glad they're showing.
