depressing shit lifting

Sub-Zero

High End Bro

i SUCK at life/lifting.

so today was my first real chest/tricept workout of my life, and i BLEWWWWW it.

i can think up lots of excuses, such as it was after practice, i felt like going to sleep, and that we had to do 50 pushups, then 25 6 more times throughout practice, but that doesn tchange that my workout was SHIT.

i went in there, and on pec deck i was feeling it in my fucking shoulders (yes i was probably doing them wrong), so that was a wasted exersise:mad:

then i went to the tricep thingy, thats like a wheel and its opposite of bicep curl, and it seems like my elbow isnt put in right on my right side, and i was doing it at a weird angle that didnt allow for full range of motion, bu tother than that it was alright.

then i went to the bench, (which i had never done freeweight before). i had a huge ego on these, because at hotels, having never lifted before 120 was shit, and i could do at least 150.
i assumed freeweights would be no different, so i went there, tested out the bar for 12, just to get the motion down, and it was wobbly as fuck. then i put on 5's on each side of the 45 pound bar, for my next 10 (i didn twanna be like the dumbasses you all talk about who go right in and do too much) and i was alright, even though i was still a bit wobbly. instead of feeling the usual lifting pain, i just felt weiry, like my arms wanted to go to sleep (best i can explain the feeling) and i did em anyway. then i added to the previous weight 10 to each, for the next 8, and i did alright withthat, still the same weiry feeling. then i took em off and put on 25's on each side, and i needed help unracking, and then i was BARELY good for like 2.5 and i had to get my spot to help me with the rest....

then i went on to do the rope tricep pushdown thing, which i was weiry on too, (no lift pain) and then i just did some shitty stuff around 55-75 working up with the machine upright bench thing...

in summary i suck, and fuck:bawling: guess theres next time

Hey man don't worry about it. It's not about ego..its about progression. As long as your progressing then thats awesome. Can't really give much advice from what you said though..but if your serious about lifting why don't you try using more free weights? I'm not saying machines are necissarily bad but, i believe free weights should be used for MOST things if possible.
Anyhow don't worry about it... go in next time without any frustrations and just fuck shit up :)(in a goodway)

Dude, if it was the first real workout of your life how the hell can you expect it to go well? You are going to have to work at it for a while before it feels right, and you will need to be patient if you want to be competitive.

Just keep at it. You will improve.

yeah, what they said!

take it easy, go slow.

guy in my gym looked at me the other day, smiled, and said "are we big yet?" i told him we're getting there, but not quite yet, couple more weeks. his response was "if we could all get big and strong overnight, it wouldn't be called a 'workout.'"

oh yeah, also i forgot to mention i dont even feel it now, and i didn tafter the workout, and my arms didnt even swell from it:bawling:

Ok...here is what i have to say...and this is from my Dad...sometimes he says things along this line and it really puts a perspective on it...this may sound harsh but...

Stop being such a crybaby, suck it up.
There are bigger and tougher challenges then the gym, if u quit after one session what does this say on the rest of your life.

Don't mean to be an asscrack. But fuck, don't quit after one session. Suck it up...figure out what u did wrong...reevaluate and get the fuck in there and do your shit. But heck if you really want just pack up...but you will sacrifice a place where nothing else matters...

Everyone here started fresh too...so i bet you could do it as well. I started with 2 10s on each side if it makes you feel better. I now bench 300, squat 500 and deadlift 545....you gotta realize it's gonna take time, work, dedication and education. It ain't gonna happen overnight.

Good luck next time.

well, im pretty used to the shut the fuck up suck it up thing, cause im in practice all day, but even shutting up and doing it even though my arms were weiry didnt do it..so thats not it

do you think going in there tired from practice and doing pushups could have hurt the "workout"

-and i cant quit, or the coach will probably kick me off the team

Could be...either way though..i know how you feel. I mean i play football...it takes up about 4 hours a day during the season...i know how to keep my mouth shut even when i want to curse the shit out of someone or something...

I also had knee surgery in oct2001...and fought through that. It sucked big time. All i can say is try to surround yourself with supportive people because they are the ones who will help you in times like this.

If you are so unhappy, maybe you shouldn;t be playing the sport in the first place?

im happy when im on top of someone who wasnt conditioned as well as me, and i hear the ref hit the mat for a pin

hasnt happened yet though:D

uhhh....

most of these are old mesurements etc... but im 15, 5'6 150.2 weighing out today

then my arms last time i measured are a little over 15-16 inches around em (probably measured wrong) and thats all i got.

don't worry if your arms are shaking and stuff at first.

i vividly remember the first time i benched and i was wobbly as fuck, too. it just takes some getting used to-also need to build up stabilizer muscles.

keep at it and in a month you won't even feel like the same person :)

instead of feeling the usual lifting pain

This is why I would never or ever use a machine...well I tried it once and there was undue joint stress. I don't think you're supposed to feel pain when you lift lol...well maybe deadlifts.

Stick to free weights man...you'll get used to it and you'll be bigger/stronger because of it. Just keep at it. I started at benching the bar, curling 20 lb barbell, I couldn't keep balance during deads/squats. In about 4-6 months I quadrupled almost every lift...it takes time. Weightlifting is all about progress.

I agree. It takes time and patience, discipline, DRIVE and a good pain tolerance. But you will develop all of that in time. Drive is something you just need to have, otherwise why would you even attempt to lift? 9 years ago I couldnt bench the 45lb bar without a spot. Now I bench 370, deadlift 510, incline press 360, etc. My arms were 10 inches around, now thier just under 18" cold. Wasnt easy by any means, but you cant give in. Also I did it naturally. Had I ever decided to juice Id be much bigger right now. Looking to build a solid base first, maybe even stay somewhat "natural" (supplements but w/out roids).Give it time and be patient, If you really want it, youll find a way to get it.
