if you are doing high weight low reps for both i would have to say yes. I just think i get more energy in my back seperated the two days. if you don't take your back as strongly as your arms or legs than no go ahead but to me my back is prolly 2nd most important so i just want to get all the growth i can, so i split the two days up.
 
From time to time I do both the same day
 
i deadlift on mondays and squat wednesdays. if i did both the same day i wouldnt be able to do anything else
