Deadlift Frequency

I read an article that said that one should deadlift only once every two weeks. What do you all think about that when drug-free? What about when on?

If you are just a begginner than one every week if fine. Once you get to heavy weight then your CNS (central nervous system) can't take it and it's easy to over train. When you're on you could do it more frequently, but replace it with gm's or hyper extentions.

Listen to YG - he really knows his shit...lol

Depends on goals bro. Want a huge DL, you must train the shit out of it. Everybody's CNS responds differently. I personally can DL 2x a week w/out issue. I also squat 2-3x per week so I am conditioned to train like this.

Drugs will do nothing to recover your CNS (like young douche hinted to).

I think blanket recommendations like that are complete crap. It depends on individual poundages/recovery, what else you're trying to do, and what your deadlift workout looks like.

Assuming you're trying to push your other lifts and are doing some assistance/isolation work and cardio, give weekly deadlifts with a single work set (i.e., ramping up to one near-maximal set) a shot. Unless you're a very disproportionately strong puller, there's a good chance you'll be able to handle that, but if it's still too much drop back to once every two weeks.

Nonsense like this will not be tolerated on this board son. Watch it, or you will be placed in another time-out. Check on who your talking shit to.
Nonesense like what? You attacked me, and I'm the one at fault? Your age shines through.

You said Drugs help w/ CNS recovery - you have never done Steroids, correct? And for your information, nothing but rest repairs a CNS - nothing.

You also gave blanketed shit advice on a lift you were asking for critique on last week - via your GF if I remember correctly ('check my deadlift form' was the thread title I think). So , for now, till you actually experience something on your own, keep your advice to yourself. No one is looking for your opinion, they are looking for solid lifting advice from experienced lifters - not 19yr olds.

BTW - I am 31, and it is shining through!

youngguns....

Orb.....I'm blacking you out for the day while your future on the boards is decided

im not sure if this is pretty much exactly what u said...but just cause ur DLing every week doesnt mean each time has to be heavy...going heavy (max efforts) every week will take a toll...

some people like to do %age of max, like in a months time, week 1 60%, 2, 75%, 3, 90%, 4, 100%, for example

yg was more correct than wrong
as mentioned there's too many variables to give blanket advice
and hell we're all different
