DB or BB flat benchpress??

I'm sure this topic has been covered extensively, but I cant seem to find it in a search. I have tried both DB and BB for flat bench and I'm not sure which I like better. I always use DB for incline and BB for decline. If someone would indulge me on this topic, I would apreciate it.

Just pick whatever you like better. Keep in mind that many find DB's less harmful to their rotator cuffs.

i agree with what casual said. it's more of a preference thing than anything. many will argue that flat BB is overrated and really not need, which i tend to agree with. but these same people usually argue that incline BB is the way to go.

i personally like flat DB presses. i've had alot less shoulder pain since i eliminated flat BB, and i think the pump from DB is just as good if not better. i do however do BB for incline, so i don't feel the need for flat BB, but that's my individual preference.

Personally I find barbells are better for progressive resistance as you can add smaller increments of weight each time (unless you get something extra for dumbells). But dumbells can be easier without a spotter unless you're real strong and have trouble getting them in position.

But usually you can use both, whether it's part of a 5x5 style where you can have barbell as main and dbells as a 2x8-10. Or DC where you can use both as a main on different workouts. Other methods allow similar answers also.

yeah, go with how it feels. i personally prefer bb flat and db incline.

I like both.

I've found flat BB builds more overall thickness, while DB's target the pecs more directly.
