DAMMIT!!!!!!!! Help me out here, please!

A few months ago I disputed a charge on my credit for about $2000. About a month later I received my updated credit report, with the item status, deleted. Needless to say, I was relieved. Until yesterday that is. A new company is on the prowl. Avco, the first finance company told the credit agency that it was not my debt. Now, this S&P company is asking for $3546!!! FUCK!!!

Are they going to be able to resubmit that to my credit agency even though it was already removed?!?!

Have you considered using one of those credit/debt consolidation companies? I was in a similar situation awhile back, and what I discovered was that I got much better results when someone else stepped in and took care of the situation. A lot of these companies will use threats to make you pay a bill, like your, that does not need to be paid. However, when another established company stepped in, the situation was dealt with in a short time, because the credit companies know that these people know the laws. Just an idea......

Best of luck to you, Sweetie~

Thanks Toga!!!

How ya' been gymtime? This is the same charge. Avco was the first financial company. When the credit bureau requested proof, Avco sent them a letter detailing that this is not my account. So, poof, removed. Now, this S&P company bought the debt from Avco. So, I call them and tell them the charge was disputed, and deleted from my credit. The rep brought up Audio Express... and my ssn. The debt started at $2000 at Audio Express, and with interest is now sitting at $3546.00.

The thing is, I was just hopeful when I was doing all this dispute shit. I know what the charge is, and I bumped around town for quite a while. But... the original company I financed through went under about a month after I bought the system, and I never got a bill. It just appeared on my credit months later, and I didn't really do anything about it.

So, I know what the charge is for... But I just thought that once it was deleted... it was deleted, I got lucky, and that would be the end of it.

But, like you know... I'm just young and dumb. :)

Can they put the same thing on my credit after it was deleted, or will they just be annoying and send me shit, and threaten to take me to court? I can handle that, but I can't handle a $3500 debt on my credit. I just paid off everything... and this would look terrible when I apply for a house in about 6 months.

Doing good bro, hope all is going well with you. Read your thread with Ryan last week, funny as hell!!! Glad you didn't get yourself banned. :p

Anyway, one more question: Why did you dispute the charge? Credit card/finance companies will often give their customers the benefit of the doubt on a dispute. What that means is that they will remove the charge from your account while the item is being researched. This can be a lengthy process as you are finding out. Not sure, but this is what seems to have happened. But if you owe the money, you owe the money. There's no way around that. That extra $1546 probably includes other penalties besides the interest. You might be able to get out of some of those charges by claiming you were never billed.

But don't fret too much. If you can pay down that charge between now and June, it won't affect your pre-qualifying on your house that much.

I went to an attorney that specialises in this - got 6 wrong reports off my credit, raised my score almost 100 points!

Why I'm disputing the charge...

I don't want to pay $3546 for 2 12" woofers, 800 watt amp, and 2 tweets. I don't even have the fucking truck anymore!!!

I think I smoked crack the day I bought the fucking thing. I was just trying to skate on this one charge. I paid off the rest of my credit, about $6000, in the past few months to be debt free.

I was just being hopeful the amount wouldn't be $10,000 to clear my credit.

Well, I made my bed... I guess I'll have to sleep in it. :(

That fucking system did bump hard though!!! :D
