I have used both and I don't think sust is inferior. In fact I loved it. You don't "lose" anything no matter when you inject it, but you need to keep in mind that most of the test in sust will be de-estrified over a longer period than with cyp or ethanate. As badass explained, you need a larger initial dose of sust to get the same effective blood level. However, this level will be maintained for a longer period than with eth. Therefore, with sust it is more important to "front load", and the optimal way to do that is probably to do injections at least eod in the beginning. Frequent injections minimize blood level spikes.
In my next cycle I am starting with 2000 mgs. of sust in week 1, followed by 4 weeks of 1000 mgs. each week. This provides a strong base of test that will self taper over the next several weeks. I then switch to cyp for 3 weeks. The final 2 weeks I use prop. It is all timed to leave my system entirely in week 11 so I can start clomid effectively in week 12.
