I usually take at least a month off after 1 1/2 - 2 months on. My body adapts to creatine pretty easily. I don't know if this is an ideal time frame or not, but it seems to work well for me.
I usually take it for 8 weeks on and then take 4 weeks off. I've been taking it for about 5 years now and it really doesn't do that much for me anymore though...I guess my body has adapted to it.
