Customs opened my package but sent it through anyway, WTF?

It sat in customs for over a week. I figured I was going to get a "love letter" from customs. Then the package arrived and it had clearly been opened and then sealed back with tape. It was just a padded envelope, not a box. The contents were clearly visible. Nevertheless, it made it to my mailbox. I was afraid they might do a controlled delivery so I didn't open it for a while. It was a very small shipment (it fit in a 4x6 padded envelope).

They typically are interested in dealers and distributers...but you could be on a watch list as a result.

I doubt it, they probably thought it was worse shit, saw what it was, and figured it wasn't even worth the paperwork. I'd still get a new Addy to be safe

their main objective in customs is hardcore drugs, weapons, jewelry, booze, tobacco products, and money . 2nd tier is probably going to be people importing fake shoes, purses, and such. they really could not care less if you import some Viagra, anti-biotics for granny, or a couple vials of gear.

a good source knows how to split up the packages where it would get through easier

I heard of this recently also. They are after the big game. Typically narcotics or quite large shipments.

I live in a relatively upscale, small touristic area which is pretty safe but I seldom go out of town. Just too dangerous

There were a lot of gang members of Salvadorian origin that were deported and dropped in El Salvador. Some of these gang members didn't even speak Spanish but could be legally deported for being born there even if they grew up in the states. Overloaded their law enforcement completely, pretty hard stuff happens there. A common form of crime is 4-5 guys hop in at a bus stop and rob everyone in a bus and take a pretty girl with them back to the lair, just bad stuff all over.

Now it's a war-like zone with the army searching house by house to find gang members in the slums.

I work as a sales rep/tech support and we have to have two security guards with us (armed with carbines or shotguns and armored vests) when we deliver some highly specialized electronic equipment that I doubt anyone else can use or resell.

stay a few months in Honduras and head back to guatemala or mexico.

Still traveling is nice, much better than getting old in a cubicle.

I suspect steroids are so freely available here because not many locals can afford it.
And plenty of cattle in the farms too.
