I'm thinking about doing crossfit to get ready for some extreme military training but I don't want to get small and I still want to lift. I was thinking maybe doing crossfit paired with like strength training mainly barbell moments squat bench deadlift press. any ideas. I wish I could do bodybuilding and crossfit but idk howd that work seeing how after i lift im spent. I can't workout 2x a day I don't have the time. any suggestions?
I went through a little crossfit phase for a couple months and it was ok but my heart desires that blood filling pump in my muscles. and I wanted to do a show maybe next year so idk am I aiming to do to much? thanks in advance

I used to crossfit and I'll tell you if you want strength and size powerlifting is the way to go. Don't get me wrong Crossfit is great, it implements powerlifting, and I know some strong Crossfitters. Maybe what you could do is just come up with your own crossfit workouts so you can design it to where you're working the muscle groups you want. Or you could do something like do weight lifting 3 days a week and crossfit 2 days a week.

What I was thinking though is maybe on some days you can try to throw heavy lifting into a crossfit style workout but gear it to one muscle group so you don't have to worry about working your entire body and not being able to lift a certain muscle group later that week.

Like go in and do say, for example, AMRAP in 15 mins back squats x12 deadlift x 12 box jump x 30. That'd be like leg day in a crossfit style workout. If you're doing 15 mins nonstop of that it will smoke you , but since crossfit workouts generally last under 30 mins you could do the crossfit workout, take a quick break, and then focus on lifting for the other half workout.

Hah, that's all I could come up with. Crossfit's great training for military and law enforcement stuff man.

Yeah I've been thinking a lot about it and if I can figure out my own crossfits and try and gear it towards specific body parts I'd prob be able to lift on a schedule better. realistically I think doing 3sessions a week is enough to get me a solid endurance boost along with running. I might try out something like (crossfit football). I was thinking maybe something like this. legs- squats 5x5 for strength
crossfit AMRAP 20min
250 meter row
Wall balls 20lber
10-15min recovery
leg ext
Leg curl
Calve raises

95% of the people who talk shit about Crossfit have never actually done it. There are variations that are more strength oriented. Try CrossFit Football | Strength & Conditioning for The Power Athlete and Strongmanwod.com | Strongman Workouts Posted Daily.

Here are a couple of my regular Crossfit squat workouts:

Warmup ( 5-min bike or rower)
agility stuff to limber up

-------------

225 squat x 5 reps Every Minute On the Minute(EMOM) x 5 minutes
Rest 1 minute
275 squat x 4 reps EMOM x 5 minutes
Rest 1 minute
315 squat x 3 reps EMOM x 5 minutes
Rest 1 minute
365 squat x 2 reps EMOM x 5 minutes
Rest 1 minute
405 squat x 1 reps EMOM x 5 minutes
Scale as needed.

It's not the weight that makes it hard. You're doing 25 sets of squat in 25 minutes.
==========
Squats warmup then
315x10
225x20
135x30
airsquat x 40
135x30
225x20
315x10 (add 405x1 beginning/end if you can)

This is meant to be unbroken (only rest is time it takes to change plates) but do as little rest as you can.
============

Another

1K Run

Body weight bench press x 50 reps

1.5x Body weight back squat x 25 reps

1K Row

Honestly i have nothing bad to say about x fit. Its just i dont enjoy it. All it is , is p90x muscle confusion on steroids. Really thats all it is. It endurance mixed with power lifting techniques and some running. Save that for the youngins. I will stick to my old fashioned dungeon workouts and still look stout at 38. Nothing against xfit.

Bro if your going to an extreme military school, ranger, sf, seal, recon, etc than endurance and strength is what you need not size. Size will only hurt you when your rucking 20+miles or doing bodyweight exercises for hours. Work on getting leaner while increasing strength and endurance. Those extra lbs of muscle will kill you when going for hours on in.

NTBM REP

Hey tone those are some great ideas thanks I might try those two out for sure. as far as my workouts go its pretty ridiculous I get an hour lunch so I been running to the gym (.75mi) jumping in the pool an swimming like a 600meter jumping out running back to work. then I get off go to the gym do a power lift then a crossfit wod then after that I'm almost dead so I try an do a few isolation exercises high rep for pump. I've already accepted the fact I'm gonna lose muscle :/. I def wanna keep definition at least or improve it since I'm prob gonna lose weight.

I got like two months of this and I'll know if I'm going to get to go or not. If not I'm just gonna lift like a mofo and get so fucking huge lol. it'd be dope if I got the chance to do some cool shit tho.

Crossfit is cool if you need to spend $200-300 per month to have someone who probably has no more credentials to teach lifting than you tell you how to lift

Ok cross fit is great but if u want to go ODA or R1 than you need to be training specifically for that. It's basicly torture but it's necessary. Rucking 20 plus miles almost running with a 60lb ruck, running in ACU's, flipping tires basically what ever morbid shit you can conger up. You have to get your feet tougher bc of the of the blisters that you will enivetably get on your feet and in between your toes. You DO NOT want to be big and muscular bc the RI's or the OC's will single you out. You want to be as lean and as strong with as much endurance as possible. Most of all you have to be 100% certain that's where u want to be, bc at some point your body will break down and you mind will have to take you the rest of the way. Why is it a toss up between 2 of the hardest schools imaginable or getting out? There is a big big difference between the 2 choices!

It's a selection you submit a package and if you get lucky you get orders but it's a real toss up due to funding and quotas.

Ok now I see why, you know that you can make them play your game for once by telling them you will extend not reenlist for a selection date, that will light a fire under your commanders ass. What is your MOS, what base are you at right now. You from the YO?

Yeah I have full support on my end with my chain of command. it's just up to detailers over at millington,tn. I have one hook up over that way so maybe it'll play in my favor. I'm trying to go seal. I'm currently a search and rescue swimmer.

Crossfit is pretty hardcore...a lot of the arm wrestlers I train with do crossfit and i'm telling you man this shit works. Great overall strength, always look good and always feel strong...it's a great overall workout. It's just not for me at this point, but as I get older, I see myself moving over to crossfit.

I used to be on an ODA team, and that's where I first got introduced to crossfit. We did it in the mornings instead of the standard Army PT. I'd recommend it for anyone going to selection. And as far as rucking goes, I did a 4, 8, and 12 mile ruck every week leading up to selection for about 3 months, and that worked for me just fine.

i recommend going with epistane.. make sure you get in taurine for the pumps .. it won't fuck with your lipids like other AAS will and will do the job

I got to research that I'm not familiar with it. is it a aas? I can't take anything thatd be testable.

They do in seal training but not regulars military alot of guys have gotten busted.

No they don't.

Only way to get tested for aas in the military is to be busted with paraphernalia pertaining to steroid use, or to have a witness statement written to your command.

SEAL, Recon, Ranger, it's all the same, been there done that bro. You are safe as long as you are smart.

ok I wouldn't even consider it unless I had a place out in town to keep it. I'm just kind of bummed I'm going to be losing some size That I worked do hard for.

I know how you feel man, but increasing your calories will help, and there will be time to get in some strength style lifts there.

You'll still lose a little, but as long as you keep lifting and eating, you can keep plenty of it.

Also muscle memory is a powerful thing, so getting back to your current size will be easier than you think

Yeah I'm def going to have to up my intake on carbs hopefully i can experiment and dial it in to where I can stay around 210-215

Lots of army units actually do crosscut for PT. it's not standard but its the choice of a lot of PT minded COmpany Officers. At least a lot had adopted it when I was in at fort Bragg. Not SF but airborne infantry and such.

In the Army (from my understanding and experience), in order to test for steroids your unit commander has to specifically request it. Otherwise they only test for the recreational stuff. This makes sense considering I've been testing while on and didn't have any problem (I was only taking an oral (turinabol). I only personally know of one incident in Army Special Forces where a guy got tested because he was pretty blatent about it, and practically advertised the fact that he was using.

This is true. I believe they can only request it if there is a very good reason to believe its happening. The test is expensive and it has to come out of the battalion budget or company budget, can't remember which one. So people aren't quick to jump on steroid tests in the army in my experience. We had one but it's because someone supposedly saw him inject himself.

Ok 1) Muscle doesn't float and you will be swimming a lot at BUDs 2) 8-10% BF is going to kill you. You really need to work on Endurance. CROSSFIT is good. For Endurance. As far as strength I just watched a Ranger buddy of mine Deadlift 555 lbs. Also do g a cycle of any sorts before. Isn't the smartest thing to do. Also Ruck Run and Ruck some more. Do cals climb rope and all. Good luck

Thanks for the input i do believe ill be leaning out a lot more and I won't be as big an bulky due to the running/swimming and crossfit so I won't be to big. endurance really comes easy to me so it's just putting in the time to dial my body in. my main concern is keeping strength an being able to be strong and have that endurance to go with it. Been working like the core movements with 5x5 7x3 for strength. as far bf% goes I think it's all mental man lil guys big guys fat skinny make it. and honestly I might do like an anavar cycle before I go and prob a lil into the training idk about that epi stuff I don't have time to run a pct an all. In buds they don't really ruck they do boats on head an log pt so I think it's a lil diff than the ranger training. They do rucks later on in training but doing it now isn't going to do much but give me shin splints I think. def going to work on rope climbs tho more for technique than anything. and it's not even 100% I'm going yet Im schedule to take a pst oct 16 then the following week my package will get submitted then it'll prob be like a month.

Just remember trying to cycle during BUDS won't be easy. You wont have time to really get away to take it. Remember High BP SIde effects. And if there was anything I would take during it would be Test. You will be so stressed and sleep deprived ur test will drop dramatically.
and also no matter how strong u r the cadre will smoke u till ur weak.

oh ok. yeah I agree with you on the test two pins a week would be a lot easier. If I don't get to go back to buds I might end up joining the army an try rangers but that's up in the air right now depending on what happens. I'm also considering anavar and gh during.
