critique my shoulder routine

arnolds press 4sets
side lateral raise 3sets (I'd replace these with upright rows)
shrugs 2sets

do 3-4 sets of 8-12 on the rear delt machine.

Shrugs aren't a shoulder exercise, but why only 2 sets? It's possible to use very heavy weights in the shrug. 2 sets would hardly get them warmed up.

If I used my heaviest weight on the 2nd set I'd end up injuring myself.

I've read a couple books that say upright rows are bad for your shoulders (I've got The New Power Program in front of my as I speak). I'm also pretty positive it was how I screwed mine up (after about 3 months it's fine). I can post the whole quote if you'd like, but I'm not all that clear on copyright issues.
 
hmmm It works good for me. so far...no pain, and thats with a bad left shoulder. I was just looking at it as a way to put more stress on the side delts. If I use DB's I can only get 10 "clean" reps with 35s. Upright rows I can get 8 clean reps w/135.

Forgot about that. Yea, I do em on back day. 4 sets also..
 
Do your shrugs on your back day, or unless you do Back Traps Shoulders in the same day like I used to.
You should do somthing for your middle head, then some rear work then finish up with somesort of press.

When using a bar, do you use a wide grip or a close grip?

why get rid of lateral raise? this exercise has been pretty legit for me

and for traps, do like 5 sets of powercleans, then 5 more sets of high rep shrugs!
