Creatine on Carb up day, why and when?? what are the benefits, and when is the right time to take it??

Take it the same as you do normally, except at a higher dose since it is only for a short period. Just take it throught the day in small dosages, especially with your higher GI meals obviously.

Why???....For the same reason you would ever take creatine normally.

BMJ

in case you didn't know why you "normally" take it at these times. Creatine need insulin to be transfered to different parts of your body, without carbs that cause an insulin spike, most of that creatine will just shoot through you.

I disagree to an extent. A lot of CKD and keto diet users have reported, as well as myself following these diets, that creatine has been beneficial (on non-carb days). YES, it will be better with high GI carbs, however it does work regardless.

On a carb-up day, he should be getting plenty of carbs to shuttle whatever amount of creatine being consumed so I don't think he will have much problems.

Yes on carb up days he should be good regardless. The sudden reintroduction of carbs into your system should make their be insulin in his system alot longer if im not mistaken ( i could be i read this from a non proven source).

Creatine hasn't had that many tests done on it considering its popularity. Im not sure why this is but there are alot of myths about it. Simple knowledge of the body lets you assume that carbs with creatine should increase intake, as far as i know this is true. If anyone knows anything else please let us all know for im sure on this board most people take creatine unless they use gear

Thanks for the info guys. BTW does anybody know if creatine expires, does i have a shelf life? I have a bottle from last year that was opened but i hardly used, is it still good? I ask bc i remember hearing somewhere that it loses its effectiveness.

Is that why I`m getting that stomach ache/almost nausea feeling? Mine is about 10 months old but My glutamine is that old too and I think it`s from the glutamine.

bump for answer, does creatine lose its effectiveness over time??

Yep. Turns into creatinine (sp?) which is kind of the waste product, can't really remember. Depending on quality, etc, it could be anywhere from 6 months to 3 years.
And on a CKD, just to cover all the bases, on carb up days take in 4 separate 5g doses, then after training take 5 - 10 g. That's only about 40g/week if you workout twice.
