hey guys im 16 i do kung fu and play cricket if you know what that is. im looking to gain size eg. big arms abs chest legs etc and work out mon wed fri. im 1.77 m high and weigh 50 kg which is about 110 pounds and 10% bf ive been having whey protein shakes after workouts in the morning etc but was wondering if i should start taking creatine??

I love creatine, it has worked well for me. When I first started taking creatine it was nothing to jump up 5-10 lbs on bench per week. I think it also helped with recovering from activity. I would not feel exhausted after playing football or basketball.
As for gaining size look at your diet. Shoot for 1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight. So 110 x 1.5 = 165 grams of protein. I would not expect to put on a ton of size at your age though.Your body is still developing. It takes time and hard work to build mass. But you should notice a differance If you stick to a good diet of protein carbs and healthy fats. Aslo drink a lot of water, especially on creatine. Shoot for at least a gallon to a gallon and a half. Welcome to Elite, train eat grow.

Don't use your money on creatine right now, it's not really worth the money while you're 16. Use the money you were going to spend on creatine for wholesome food, protein shakes, or even the book www.startingstrength.com. (I feel like i'm advertising this book now :p ) I'm not too knowledgable about it, but here's a good site to decide whether you really want to take it or not.

I disagree with him not taking creatine right now. I was 15 when I took it and never had a problem with it. It can only help him. Plus you can find 500 grams of creatine for around 20-25 bucks on the net. Half of my class was on it after they saw my lifts go up like crazy. No one had any problems with it at all. I do agree with the diet being key. I was obsessed with supps when I was his age. I thought they were the answer. Diet will make or break your gains. This is the most important thing to remember. No supplement will ever make you grow like adequite protein and carbs. Good link OSO, it will get him started in the right direction.

I suggest anyone who is highly active to take creatine honestly. As stated, the recovery time decrease associated with it alone makes it worth taking at any age if a person is really physically active in my opinion.

In terms of hard recovery benefit? Glutamine Peptides are a better place for him to spend his money.

Hate me if you must, but i think its a huge mistake for a 16 year old, who has not reached his genetic size cap to be doing monster lifts.

Sue me, but you should be building core strength, agility and speed with appropriate guidlines for form and format from a professional trainer for the next TWO years, THEN you will have the platform to build a skyscraper.... and not thwart what growth you might have yet coming.

2 cents. take it or toss it.

badslinky.. can you please elaborate on this .. if it wouldn't be too much trouble... I have been looking for some real advice on this subject ... It would be greatly appreciated :rose:

What I was getting at was that I started lifting when I was 15 listening to my buddies on what to take and train. I never heard of glut and other stuff back then. I lifted way to heavy and gave myself joint problems. Ended up taking steroids at 19 for college soccer. Anyways I ended up ok at 24 now but if I had done it right with a trainer <sigh> can only imagine where I would be.
