Creatine expiry

Well In my opinion I don't think Creatine can really expire.
There arent any living or organic cells/organism in Creatine... The stuff
you buy is synthetic, how can it expire?
It doesn't rot or spoil... I have some Creatine Monohydrate that is
about 1 year and 2 months out of date and Id still use it as long as it
isn't clumpy or discolored.

Just my .02

How long is it good for after the listed expiry date?

The expiry dates affixed to all products, including supplements, are shown at a date prior to the actual expiry date of the particular product. This is determined by the manufacturing process, legal obligations, as well as guidelines expressed by governing bodies (ie: FDA). Although the product may not contain any organic properties and therefore would seem to have an endless shelf-life, an expiry date is assigned.

There are only four possible scenarios which could happen as a result of consuming expired creatine:
  • The creatine works with no adverse effects.
  • The creatine does not work and shows no adverse effects.
  • The creatine does not work but produces adverse effects.
  • The creatine works but also produces adverse effects.

Considering the price and availability of creatine, it is best to adhere to the expiry date of the product and not use your body as a testing ground to find out which one of the four scenarios your expired product falls into.

If you keep it stored in appropriate conditions (dry and not to hot) it can hardly expire
So you can consume it months after its expiry date
