This does not surprise me. Hans, get use to it around here. Anyone can make a "sexual Preference" comment and get away with it but as soon as it becomes racial then it becomes a "serious" problem. Admin's and MODs pick and chose who they want to target because every rule does not pertain to everybody.
One well known member might say all kinds of prejudicial and racist comments yet don't even get spoken to because, of course, they do pay to be a member of this site. Yet others get chastized and get ripped apart because they are just another pawn who they don't give a shit about. How many times have I heard a MOD or member who becomes a MOD eventually say something racist or something that goes against EF TOS. It all comes down to who they like and who they don't.
I was very surprised to hear that they didn't have the "Resources" to track the neg karma that was given to you. Disgusts me to hear that, but i'm sorry to say you'll have to get use to it or protect yourself by paying the monthly membership fees to be protected. EF is run like the MOB where money is the driving force between everything, not human rights or freedom of speech like we all tend to believe.
Your comments are somewhat interesting.
The karma messages came at a time when I was also experiencing quite a bit of openly posted abuse about my sexuality, and an environment hostile to homosexuals pervaded the site generally.
In NZ our Human Rights Act requires any business venture to provide an environment hospitable to people regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. I felt EF was failing at this, and that there was a difference between the way racism was tolerated in contrast to the frequently virulently homophobic environment that went ignored an unchallenged.
Sadly I found out that in the US there are really no such laws stipulating that an organisation has to provide an inclusive environment. Such protection seems to differ state by state and be hit and miss in the USA, so EF had no legal obligation to address this issue.
I learned through a few incidents early on that this site is clearly run with only the self-interests of its owners in mind. I have supported the site financially in terms of purchasing reports and buying products. However, I have felt rather offended at being manipulated by false advertising and a somewhat profiteering mentality that pervades EF. As such, as much as I am tempted to get a platinum membership, I am resisting.
If EF was a non-profit organisation, and any future profits from the site were simply to go back to improve the site for its members i'd probably feel differently. However I know that my support would ultimately just be a subsidy for the future private profit of a few individuals.
