couple questions regarding box squats and pendlay rows

I have seen two different types of box squats. One is where you sit down for a very brief second and then explode up, and the other one is where you just touch the box. I have been just sitting for a brief second because just touching seems to be just a regular squat.

With the pendlay row correct me if I am wrong but your back is at a 90 degree angle and you actually touch the weight to the floor when doing these. Correct?

Thanks guys

From what I can tell, the point of the box squat is to work on your power from the bottom position. Sit on the box, relax your glutes, then explode upwards with no bounce/momentum off the box.

Pendlay rows you are correct, weight is completely deweighted between reps.

Exactly. You have to unload while on the box. In doing so it's impossible to use momentum anyway, b/c you have none. Boxes also build hip and glute strength far better than conventional squats anyway. I do a conventional "in the pocket" set, then a box set, and it's like two completely different exercizes.

the pendlay rows arent touch n' go. they are completely deweighted each rep. also pendlay rows activate the erectors more than standard rows read the sticky, check out mc2's site >excercise descriptions.
