Constipation!!!

Sorry, to have to discuss this issue, but I cant shit on my current diet (recently posted). Wondering what some of you would recomend for this problem. Is it ok to take Metamucil (concerned about sugar et on my very strict diet) or should I just eat more beans. Currently not consuming any fruit and pretty low carbs. Thanks everyone.

Magnesium - many people are deficient.
Eat some almonds, walnuts (rich in magnesium and fiber) and you gonna hit it real soon(the white chair) :o
 
If you think you're lacking fiber, you can buy psyllium husks (or psyllium powder) which is essentially Metamucil without the sugar or flavoring. I wouldn't eat beans on a strict diet!!
 
Yeah like these guys have said eat more fiber, theres usually a lot found in cerial especially ones made from wheat.

Yeah, that's actually "Pro Diem" as in "good day". "Per Diem" is the monetary reimbersement that you get when you work away from home as in "each day".
 
What about water intake? Sometimes adding more fiber can make the situation worse if you are not hydrated. Increase your water intake too.

Also, what about fats? If you are low carbing it, make sure you are getting in enough fats. Olive Oil can clean you out...down a couple tbsp and you'll soon take a trip to the potty.

For a fast fix, try a cup of strong brewed coffee. If you don't normally drink it, it should clear you out in an hour or so. :)
 
Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm on low carb and have been using a pretty sufficient amount of olive and flax oil everyday. I'm going to take the sugar free metamucil for a couple of days and see what happens.

For some reason I never have problems going to the bathroom.......but every so often i get way backedup. infact about a month ago i was on here asking for remedies for a major back up. i think its caused by stress, dehydration, and digestive problems (in my case last month it was probably caused by eating 2 lbs of chicken without chewing them good).......

anyway......20g of vitamin C, large coffee, heavy dose: B-5, Magneusium, NAC, mix 1/4 of oil with 1/4 cup of lemon juice.....drink up and good luck
 
Take in some more fruits and vegetables. Just buy the ones that are low calorie. I'm sure their are lots around that are acceptable. Then you not only have lots of fiber but you've also got more nutrients.

I've tried the fiber powder and I found its not the same thing as taking in high fiber foods. I'd get a nice bowel movement one day and a killer the next. :worried: I supposed that the fiber needs to be mixed really good into the food or be that actual food to stay in the same position in the intestines.

But thats just my guess.

Like Daisy mentioned earlier, you need lots of water when taking pure fiber, like psyllium husks, otherwise you will get the opposite effect.
 
fiber, a lot of water and good fats IE olive oil etc....a freind of mine told me once to smoke a cigarette....the nicotine helps ya crap....never tried that one but if your desperate i guess you might. Although I DONT advocate smoking.
 
I have that problem too, sometimes. When I cut calories a lot, I end up going like 1x per week (instead of ED or EOD). I didn't look at your diet, but what works for me is to either increase food intake or increase fiber intake.

that must be frustrating only going 1x per week on a cutting cycle... everyday the scale would show you heavier... plus the thought of having week old food rotting inside of you.. :(
I heard one person compare it to sitting food out on the sidewalk in 98.6 degree heat.. how long would you trust it to be out there before it spoils?

Its weird... I just don't have to go. When I do, its like...really small... I had just thought that my body was using everything it could. The more you eat, the more you will go. The less you eat, the less you go. At least, that's the way it seems to work for me.
 
I had some problems like that atrius...a freind of mine reccomeded that you just pick a time of day and go and try and shit...dont leave till you do and eventually your body will get into a rhythm and you will go everyday same time. God knows I take my biggest piss about the same time everyday....usually an hour after drinking a half gallon of water but the rythm is good for the body. :supercool
