Congested Nasals...my dilemma

Captain Planet

New member
I have had congested nasal passages my entire life. I learned to deal with it by taking things like various nasal sprays and Psuedoephedrine drugs and such, but after a while I decided to go see a specialist. He said I have a deviated septum (the cartilidge in your nose, it congests your sinuses) and my tonsils are too big. He reccomened surgery, and doing both the same day, meaning I will be in for one heck of a recovery week. I myself am afraid of surgery, and have never had anything done on me. But I need my sleep. But before I go under the knife I was wondering if there are any OTC or prescription drugs that may help me first. Or if you think I should just get the surgery done and go on with my life, just say that, I am looking for opinions and options here.

-Thanks

(BTW, my frist post :wavey:

Bro...get the surgery done...Iam totally addicted to AFRIN...cannot live without it...usually go thru 1 bottle every 2 days...sucks big time..there is nothing on the market that can help that condition...you can get products that shrink the passages but the REBOUND effect keeps you going back for more...its a vicious cycle...my friend just had the OP and he is doing great..changed his life...Iam next..

I used to have the same problem. Most likely you have developed an extreme level of tolerance to just about any anti-inflmmatory decongestant available, and most likely it is no longer an immunological issue, but rather dependence/addiction.
Go for the tonsils removal - I had it done, and while it was truly a terrible experience a week after the op, I haven't used any anti-infl med for years now. Sure beats carrying a bottle of whatever crap-spray and a handkerchief. Operation itself is painless (well if performed correctly by a qualified professional :) )
