computer trouble (should be easy if you know this stuff)

Ok, it just started today, but basically I can only access websites I've got previously bookmarked. Everything else comes up as "cannot find page" like when you type a wrong html or something. My external (i.e not html web-based) email program works fine, as does surfing under the same domain name, but stuff like ICQ finds nothing, and if i type in any new URL, even google.com, i get nothing. Any ideas?

btw I know this isn't a computer tech board, but like i said, I can only access sites I've bookmarked

also, I haven't touched any of my settings or preferences or anything, and I'm running a cable modem.

Thanks!

odd.
sounds to me like a dns issue.

if it is that, and you have the right settings in your network setup - then I'd say you need to call tech support on that one.

if you can go to a prompt (goto Start->Run - then type "cmd") and type in:
nslookup www.elitefitness.com
if it fails, then that means there is an issue with that and would explain the naming issues you are having.

have you tried restarting? sometimes services gets screwed up with windows. i know sometimes with XP if i start to open things before it fully loads i wont be able to use certain items like AIM/Yahoo.

I'm pretty sure I started it before I left for the gym, but I could be wrong... I'll try right now.

and thanks for the prompt replies!
i hope it doesnt come down to phoning tech support... cause I dunno who here knows Rogers Cable... but their tech support is the biggest fucking joke this side of the hemisphere!

still no love... aight I'm gonna go phone Rogers and stay on hold for an hour and 20 minutes just to hear the guy tell me to unplug my modem lol

thanks alot though HS and nat

Is your computer plugged in? Is your phoneline plugged in?? If you have a DSL or Cable modem... are they turned on... and plugged in?

Do all of these things... I think that is your problem.

restart your computer
and try

go to the control panel, click on internet properties, then click on the button in the middle there that says delete files.
