Like every 2 minutes or so everything will stop for a second, and if I’m in a game it will close the game and go to the desktop for no reason, well it doesn’t close the game it will just minimize it and go to the desktop, like every min or two for no reason, no popups or anything, closes out a game like a popup but nothing popups…any ideas?

I'm not sure how to fix the problem but don't get pissed off and throw a spoon. I did that and it wound up putting a big scratch on my moniter.

:FRlol: That's my philosophy with technology. If it doesn't work teach it a lesson.

It's probably a virus. Run a virus scan if you have one. How old is the comp? your software could be incompatable with the games you play.

Might not be as bad as a virus or spyware, just some background thing that doesn't know enough to get out of the way when you've got serious fragging to do. Could be the FindFast indexer or the Office "quickstarter", both of which are Microsoft crap; something like that.

Get into Task Manager (right-click a blank spot on the Taskbar in XP, ctrl-alt-del in Win2000), use it to get the list of all your running processes, and then go to Process Library and find out what EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM is. You can't kill everything indiscrimately, but you can find out which of them doesn't belong.

Good way to root out spyware, too -- found one bastard that was set up as a two-process tag-team; kill one and the other would restart it faster than you could kill the second one. Had to keep them from ever starting or you'd never get rid of it.

Keeping them from starting is the advanced lesson. :)

Good advice, Digger. The stage after the advanced lesson, or maybe part of it, which makes all previous lessons mostly redundent is to change your OS to Linux or "get a mac, dude".

Getting a Mac is a good idea. Not only will you not have any viruses or spyware, but practically no good games, either, and all of your friends will leave you because you suck.

You can have new friends and all get together to make interactive movies and burn them to DVD. Any sane mac owner has a PC on the side. :)
