And you never mentioned your Sound Card. Alot of times that makes a world of difference even to the graphics end of things. Make sure you have a Sound Blaster 128 or better. Also Make sure you have the latest DirectX drivers. Give that a try first. Bump the ram to 256mb.

I have a 16bit sound card. i am the man.

Fuck, i think i have a virus or something. I do not have any virus software either. I was trying to do a scandisk in safety mode and it popped up a message that something has been trying to write to my cd as the scan was going. I was scanning for about 15 minutes and it said the scan was interrupted 10 times! Can i get a free virusware download somewhere?

Dude it's all about the DDR grafx. 64 should be the minimum. I stress this. GET DDR. I've got 64SD and i could only run gta3 still with little lag on this card. I met all the requirements and it still didn't run to my expectations. If you've got SD on your mobo then you'll need to get a new one. SD can't run with DDR. Unlucky eh

Very true, and often overlooked.
If your comp is having troubles with the sound then the whole show can grind to a halt. Just having a 16bit card is not necessarily enough.
