Computer geeks/gamers, help please...

When it comes to how much memory is in your system there's one saying that holds true.

SIZE MATTERS!

MP5 there are several sites now selling 1.3 ghz machines for around $300.00 bucks. Basic setups but if you strip out the 128 of ram on your existing machine & the video card you could have a nice gamers machine for a couple of years.

If you can get a new machine for $300 vs paying $100 (or whatever) on an additional 256 of RAM then just get the new machine.

If money is tight then try 128-256MB of ram, but a 500 is pretty slow.

what kind of shit is this???

I got your call today.. but I am hammered at work. I will call you back tonight.

This is what I have and every games work on it:

Dual 733 mhz PIII
512 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce3 64 MB

and I play games like Ghost Recon with the highest settings. No problem so far.

If you're just playing Quake 3, Halflife, etc...there shouldnt be a problem. I ran both those games on my P2-250 w/64mb RAM and had no problems at all...

Anyway, doubling the RAM is a good start. That'll take care of most speed issues. Beyond that, defraging the harddrive is good. I wouldn't worry about upgrading processors or graphics cards just yet...most games run fine on P3 systems.

I have the same graphics card you do, and it handles pretty much everything. Nvidia updates thier drivers quite a bit, so have a look at thier webpage from time to time....

Dballer, you would like the game Mafia, you get to drive cars around and beat people with baseball bats!

thanks for all the input. I tried to defrag and did not shut off the other shit so it ran all night and didn't do shit. I will try it again.
