I have problems with my pc. It struggles playing a few games. It will kind of freeze up for a moment, and repeat words, kind of like a skipping record. I thought it was my video card so i bought a 64mb Nvidia Geforce, It made zero difference. Here is my setup, laugh if you must.
500mhz, Pentium 3?
128ram
I am guessing it is the RAM, since my requirements are inline with the minimum recommended by the games. Input? SHould i just up it with another 256? Thanks

Which games are you trying to play? Also, if you're talking about minimum system requirements - don't. Minimum system requirements means "minimum shit you need in your computer for the game to start and not crash in 5 minutes." Says nothing about being playable. Ultima IX needed a "minimum" of some shit that was slower than what I had at the time. The game was unplayable even at lowest graphics settings.

My recommendations are:

1) Try to meet the RECOMMENDED system requirements as opposed to the minimum. You'll get much better performance.
2) Reduce graphics and audio settings to lower quality until you get something that will run decently.
3) Get a new PC. You can get something better than what I have for under $1,000. Considering my stone-age 1GHZ PC runs most new games well, that's a great deal.

The games i have that run perfect are Quake3, and all the Halflife games. I got Castle Wolfenstein and my computer freezes up and stutters all the time. I got Mafia this year and it plays it ok, not as bad as Wolfenstein though. I need a new PC, but i hate spending money on that shit since all i use it for is games and the internet. My CD drive says "8x" on it, i assume this is slow too. I don't know too much about PCs if you cannot tell.

truthfully, only your VGA card seems to be ok for today's games.

your pc is fine for surfing, porn, Divxs...but for games, u'll need a faster processor and more ram.

if certain games are causing problems, have you downloaded patches/updates for them?

that *might* help. otherwise i say get a new pc, or at least go fo ram and a processor

I thought maybe i needed a patch for Wolfenstein, but my brother copied mine and his works perfectly. He is running a 700mhz with 256 RAM, and a 16mb card.
