Competitors..whats' the most weight you have gained after a show?

Hey guys, I'm actually having a problem losing weight for my competition on June 8th. Last Monday I began to seriously diet and I was about 170. I'm shooting for the light weight class so I still need to lose about 20 pounds to make it down to 150. After dieting for only 5 days, I managed to lose about 4 pounds. So, after 1.5 weeks into my diet, I weighed myself today and was shocked to see the scale barely tip over at 170! What the fuck? My daily carb intake is barely 75g. My protein intake as about 300g, and I'm not eating any carbs after 1PM. I take some Flax seed in the AM and PM, and cardio in the AM for 1 hour.

Am I worrying too early considering I just started dieting? Should I decrease the carbs? At 75g of carbs/day my body is working efficient enough to the point where my strength has not suffered at all in the gym and I also have not been experiencing any carb/sugar cravings during the day, although at night I feel them. Perhaps decreasing the carbs is a good idea, but that might be too early since I got 6 weeks to go.

I'm not sure, to be honest, it's a first show for me. Any help from experienced competitors would be cool guys,

thanks,

SAF

SAF...Saw your pics. You're already nealry show ready so lossing any more fat is going to be a hellish endevour, and a pharmecuetical lab experiment for you. You are honesly a diueretic away from stage condition. It is going to be very hard to manipulate your body into releasing more fat because you are so lean already. 150 is pushing it. To get there you will undoubtedly loose a good deal of muscle mass and fullness. With 6 weeks to go I would just go with your macronutrient numbers as is. 75g of carbs a day isn't enough to provide energy to your nervous system let alone your muscles so you're already pushing it. Just keep changing things up in the gyma dn let that change your physique. Do differetn types of cardio. Go heavy, go light. Use a myriad exercises to keep your body working. Get creative. Your diet can't really go much lower at 300gpro/75gcarb.

To the original post. I gained around 25 pounds in the 48 hours following my show and got sick as a peruvian mule. I actually wanted to go back to dieting I was so bloated and engorged with water.

Beezers,

I want to strip downn to the lightweight class in order to be one of the heaviest in the lightweights. If I go in as a middleweight, I will probably weigh around 160. From what I hear, most middleweight competitors weigh over 200 during bulking, but then strip down to make the middleweight class. I cant compete with that because the most I've ever weighed is around 185, so the middle weights will probably have more muscle than me.

I know that stripping down to the lightweight class will probably mean losing some muscle in the process. Do you think I'd have a better chance in the middleweight class or the lightweight class? I'm not sure myself. The last time I went to a show was actually my first, and I was too busy looking at all the chicks walking around, let alone the competitors :D

Judging from your pics, to make 150 for the lightweight I think you'll have to lose some muscle.

IMO - I'd run middleweight. Sure, those guys are up to 200 in the offseason but that's all bloat. You're an ectomorph and stay lean all the time. So if you go from 180 - 160 you'll still look better than the others who started at 200.

But he would look SICK at 150 if he could pull it off..

True. But don't you think he'd have to lose sacrifice some muscle?

I'm not sure, hey SAF what bf% are you sitting at right now?

I'm not sure what my BF is right now. I'll give it another week and see where I am after that. If my weight doesn't decrease by at least 5lbs, I'll probably shoot for the middle weights. I have no choice.

go for middleweights...you will beat your competition on symmetry and sharpness...weight doesn't matter...it's the illusion that counts...and judging from your pics you got the illusion down pat...

thanks to the bros on this board i started the last diet at 208lbs. at 19.5% BF got down to 175lbs, six months later i'm starting my pre-contest at 204lbs at 9.3% BF.

That was the stratford right? How did you place?

Things didn't go too well. I was forced to use lasix which are totally new to me as i'm used to taking aldactone as my diuretic. I felt pretty good the morning of the show but as I began pumping up I started getting dizzy and felt natious. I was dreading getting on stage for pre-judging. THe second I walked out on stage my toes cramped on my right foot and wouldn't release so for the first 4 poses or so I had to deal with that. Than I started seeing white lights and thought I was going to pass out during my routine that they made us perform at pre-judging which isn't too common.
Anyway, the callouts didn't make too much sense so I wasn't sure where I stood as far as placings went..i could have been 1st-4th. THis was one of the best lightheavy classes i've seen at a lower level show so these guy were definitely above average.
After pre-judging was complete I was completely drained and felt sick as a dog. I've never felt like this during a show and I was a little worried.
I found my trainer and asked her what she thought of the pre-judging and where it looked like I was placed. She told me she had me in second but that it looked like the judges were toying me for third.
I didn't come to place third, I came to win. And feeling like I was feeling I was in no position to sacrifice my health for 3rd place, let alone 2nd. So I withdrew but not before I had even more severe cramping of my hams, lower back and calves.
I talked to a few people in the following days and the buzz around the show APPARENTLY was that I was locked in for second place. Which still means nothing to me.
WHen I got the pics back from the show I was disappointed with my conditioning and especially with my bad pec. I didn't realize it looked so small compared to my other pec..that is definitely what did me in.
It's frustrating knowing I could have killed these guys at my best but I was only about 60% of my best that day due to many factors.
Personally I wouldn't have even stepped on stage looking like that had I known. I mean I was told and I knew even that I had the best legs of the show and owned the back shots. But as I said that pec tear i suffered 3 years ago really screwed me over.
