Cold hands?

For some reason I get cold hands at randoms times. Like right now as I am typing my hands are ice cold but the rest of my body is warm. I think the room temperature is around 70 degrees so theres not problem. Even when I try to war my hands up, or put on more layers of clothing my hands stay cold. ANybody have ideas about what could be causing this?

is there a colour change in your hands/fingers? when they get feel like they are about to get cold, do you notice them change colour?

I never really payed attention to the color when the are cold. Occasionally I have noticed they seem rather red colored but not when they are cold.

I can be poor blood circulation .....

Are your legs cold too?

but do they say change from red to blue to white cold? they dont necessarily have to follow that order or even that number of colours (could just be red-blue, or red white)

im just asking as i've heard of a conditon which can lead to cold hands especialy in the winter months, and one of the features is cold hands which can change in colour when getting colder

I've noticed at times my fingers turn white.
And then I have no feeling in them.

Could be poor circulation, thyroid issues and/or stress related. If you take care of the stress related issues (good diet, exercise, water and 6 deep muscle massages in a 12 day period should do it), you should see a difference....

well the syndrome i was trying to see if this guy had was 'raynaud's syndrome'
http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/blood/other/raynaud.htm. Symptoms include changes in skin color (white to blue to red) and skin temperature (the affected area feels cooler).

Usually there is no pain, but it is common for the affected area to feel numb or prickly, as if it has fallen asleep.

is your's made worse by something, like cold? again it might not be this at all, its the only condition I can think of the top of my head :)

Well thats actually quite ironic, because on top of cold hands, I have noticed when I sit for a while watching tv, or computer, or sleeping and then get up, I feel like my whole body has pins and needles and numbness and I am pretty dizzy. This lasts 10 seconds or less and then goes away. Its not a good feeling. Also I have a solid diet, get plenty of rest, and I am not very stressed at all right now.

do your fingers go red after the cold feeling has gone away?

thats the vasospasm you've just finished having and all the colour rushing back

go ask a doctor what he thinks...but thats my only guess as to what it is

Sounds like Raynulds syndrome to me as well. The only real cure is to just deal with it. It is not going to kill you.

i WAS DIAGNOSED WITH RAYNULD SYNDROME YEARS AGO AND LAT IS RIGHT YOU WILL JUST HAVE TO LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT. KEEPING A JOURNAL ON WEATHER CONDITIONS, FOOD YOU EAT AND ACTIVITY TO TRY AND SEE WHAT MIGHT BE CONTRIBUTING TO YOUR SYMPTOMS COULD BE HELPFUL.
