I love hardwood floors.....but you are right they are very cold in the winter. I always have thermal socks on. The only other downfall is I can always tell which room the dog is heading for..."tap, tap, tap."
Try having a dog that likes to run down the hallway and slide like a kid.
It can be the middle of the night and if she decides she wants to play, you hear her take of running and the she will try to stop, only to slide. That or she will turn her bowl over and push it along the floor with her nose while she chases it.
Since our winters aren't too bad, you're gonna LOVE the coolness the rest of the year.
A word of caution though...walking on the grout will dry your feet, so get the grout coated with the stain prevention sealer stuff...and have lotion on hand. I guess there's lye or something in grout like there is in cement.
Get a feather bed...they're comfy, will protect you from the coldness, and they squish down well to easilly tuck away into a closet when you're not using it. I miss my old one! My daughter and I just to lay one down on the floor in front of the tv and play and snuggle on it together.
