coke drinker.

New member
I don't drink coffee and won't.
But I do drink Coke or Pepsie.
I switched to diet coke/pepsie and have adjusted my diet to moderate amounts and more frequently to lose %bodyfat.

I love a pepsie or coke once or twice a day and can't get off it.

I am not seeing much fat loss either.

???

What are you taking? Coke and pepsi dehyrate you, you need to drink more water if you are going to have them in your diet - which you really shouldnt if you are trying to lose fat...

YUM

i don't count calories

I don't count and don't want to count calories.
I am 5'11'' inches and weigh 185lbs.
I am 22% bodyfat.

I have eliminated junk food and candy/treats.
I workout and run a couple times a week.

ok

Ok I will count if I need to.
How do I do it?

My concern is this.
I have a desk job and get sleepy sitting there all day.
I workout at lunch which helps my blood flow and wakes me up.
But before long I get sleepy at my desk again.

Food, helps me stay awake.
Any ideas?

I don't drink coffee and am trying to kick the coke habit.

???

FAT BURNERS!!

Try some fatburners...personally i like Xenadrine. It will keep you up and help curve you appetite.

instead of drinking coke or pepsi to keep yourself awake, take a fat burner! it has ephedrine/caffeine in them...you'll lose weight (bf-as long as you're working out) and no extra calories.

i'm taking adipo kinetix but i only take them before i workout. i was taking xenadrine 2x a day which made me wired too.

caffine is bad

I am trying to stop drinking coke partly because of the caffine.
Yes it wakes you up but the long term effects are not healthy.

Im looking for a healthier solution.

Why dont you try Diet Coke?? with caffiene! You have to make some sacrifices, if it was easy everyone would look good!! I used to be a coke addict, I switched to crystal light tastes just like kool-laid. After awhile the headaches will go away.

Well then buddy thats a tough road, but it can be done. Start counting calories(stay below maintnance), watching what you eat, and cut out the coke/pepsi. Drink a shit load of water, and do cardio like a mad man.

BTW, you might want to go to the Diet Discussion Board, you will get more attention on your topic there. Good Luck.

I find that if I drink lots and lots of water it keeps me awake. Cause I'm constantly running to the restrooms.

If you wanted to lose a lot of weight, you could switch cokes. I'm not talking about switching to diet coke either. I've seen some pretty skinny crackheads bro! Seriously, go get you a good nutrition book that has the caloric contents of foods in it. Take what you eat, write it down, and figure out how many calories you're getting in. Eat like you normally do for a week, writting everything down. Then in a week post your average number of calories for each day (all calories for the week, divided by 7). Also include your average number of carbs, protein, and fat. After that, we can see what you need to change to shed some fat. Natural fat loss is a long hard process, but it will make you feel good about yourself once you see some progress.

I read somewhere that diet sodas can screw with your diet more than regular ones. They say this is because it tastes sweet, so your body kicks out insulin expecting a glucose influx which never comes. So the extra, unneeded insulin drags your present blood sugar into the cells (which is then stored as fat if not used), and now your low blood sugar levels make you crave sweets, which you'll probably eat. Has anyone heard of this?

why not drink coffee if youre going to drink that carbonated swill.
consuming co2 diffuses the amount of o2 in your blood, which for starters is not healthy. i think the calories in the pop would be my last concern. as well, coffee might do you a bit of good, the caffeine helps break up fat, to be used for energy.

youll find that once you give up pop, you will be able to breathe alot easier.

shit, if youre really having a hard time counting calories, there is a computer program you can get. all u do is type in what u ate, and voila, tells you protein, carbs. calories etc.

Let's keep things in perspective. 1-2 diet colas a day just isn't going to have a huge impact on anything. If you can't or won't quit, don't sweat it, focus on other aspects of your situation.

Saltlick; this is true! However, it's all up to your will-power - don't eat sweets! And another thing; if the diet soda is taken on an empty stomach and let's say you are on a ketogenic diet, the small rise in insulin is still not enough to bring you out of ketosis as long as you don't stray from your eating schedule.

STAY AWAY FROM ALL SOFT DRINKS..NOT ONLY CAN PEPSI OR COKE STRIP PAINT OFF A VEHICLE OR EAT THRU A NAIL...THEY WILL DEHYDRATE AND EAT AWAY AT YOUR BONE DENSITY...DRINK H20 AND GROW.

Actually, its NOT TRUE.

The sweetener conatained in the diet drink actually
breaks down into a ketogenic(NOT glucogenic)amino-acid,
L-phenylanine.

Also, THE REASON WHY some diet sodas kick you out of
ketosis, is due to their Citric acid content.
It is not known how citric acid does this, but it basically
RE-starts the Krebs Cycle in about 50% of ketogenic
dieters if eaten in large amounts(6+ sodas/day).
This then kicks you out of ketosis.

Have you tried snorting it. It seems to raise your metabolism, which is always good for fat burning.

I dont think I have ever heard of anyone drinking it. But I guess I can try.

You have to make some sacrifices to get what you want. Just drink water. After about 2 or 3 weeks off of caffeine you'll be fine, as long as your diet and training is in order. Most of us get tired during the day at work, but you just have to deal with it and keep going towards your goals!!!

I drink a lot of diet drinks and I have been diabetic for 20 out of my 24 years. My doctor knows I drink diet coke and has no problem with it at all. My endocrinologist is one of the best in the country. He is the one that started working on inhaled insulin years ago. I test my blood sugar 6 times per day and have excellent control. I have a very hard time believing that diet drinks can cause an insulin release. Your body releases insulin due to carbohydrate intake. It has nothing to do with how sweet something is. - cbeaks
