Hi, i hope someone can give me some help here, im new to the olympic lifts and finding that theres an awful lot to think about in one movement. I know my elbows arent high enough, but the flexibility is coming, a week ago i could nt get into the rack position at all, i expect im not explosive enough as well. im sure there are many other glaring errors, please take a look...

Are you ready for this?? It actually isn't bad at all, in fact, it was good.

To nitpick, your shoulders could be a little more in front of the bar to start and during the first pull, BUT, that is just to nitpick because if i didn't say something, somebody else would.....I'd say it is proficient enough and you can start to think about adding weight. The only real issue is the rack, just practice and practice some more, get those elbows up and rack firmly across the shoulders.....Overall, great work, smooth first pull and great explosion, speed was good too.

PS,

Stop taking training advice from Arnold and invest in a pair of olympic lifting shoes, lol.

Looks good, but don't overthink the movement - it's my fatal flaw as well.

1) On pulls and such, work the starting position hard. It looks like you've done that, which is very good. All I can say is, make sure your entire back is very very tight and squeeze your shoulder blades together. This will help to bring the bar in and keep it close.

2) It's one movement - you are breaking the first pull and second pull. It's only referred to as two pulls as a teaching and analysis tool. Just set up, be tight, grab it and stand up straight as hard as you can... then pull yourself into the bar.

3) Ya, get some shoes.

Bump for weightlifting shoes, lol....yes, SR is correct. Don't be so deliberate in the transitions between pulls, the pull does have phases, but it is one pull, I didn't say anything about that because you do have the correct units firing, and you do all phases of the pull...keep doing that, but make the transitions more seamless.

Fundamentally, you're pretty sound and you do understand the lift.

Thanks for the critiques, much apprieciated! Glad to hear its not too bad! lol The no shoes thing is only a short term solution while im short on money, i will buy some lifting shoes, are there any that you would recommend?
