I did a 75 page article on female genital mutilation in International Law when I was in law school. You wouldn't believe the horrors of what is done to some of these girls. In some case they get full clitorectomies. Some get their vaginas sewn shut. One girl that I wrote about had her vagina sewn together so tightly that menstrual fluids could not escape. When she hit puberty and started menstruating, she swelled up because the fluids were not being expelled. Her family thought she was pregnant, and her brothers and father beat her to death for her perceived indiscretions. Many are subjected to very unsafe and unsanitary conditions and die or nearly die from the ordeal.

That is a practice that needs to be stopped worldwide.

Article where? A reputable medical journal? Because all the research I have ever seen has pointed to the opposite conclusion. Thusfar, all I have read is that it makes no difference. One would think that having the glans covered when not hard would make it less susceptible to irritation and contamination.

I think the reason that it looks better to us Americans is because we have become accostomed to seeing them circumsized. Really, shouldn't the body, in its unmutilated state, be more attractive to us?
