You know it is funny...

I look around this board and see all the anti-smoking posts.. But alot of these same people will: snort coke, eat X, smoke weed, use IP's stuff.

Pretty pathetic if you ask me... but your not asking me.

How does marijuana affect the lungs?
Scientists believe that marijuana can be especially harmful to the lungs because users often inhale the unfiltered smoke deeply and hold it in their lungs as long as possible. Therefore, the smoke is in contact with lung tissues for long periods of time, which irritates the lungs and damages the way they work. Marijuana smoke contains some of the same ingredients in tobacco smoke that can cause emphysema and cancer. In addition, many marijuana users also smoke cigarettes; the combined effects of smoking these two substances creates an increased health risk.

Can marijuana cause cancer?
Marijuana smoke has been found to contain more cancer-causing agents than is found in tobacco smoke. Examination of human lung tissue that had been exposed to marijuana smoke over a long period of time in a laboratory showed cellular changes called metaplasia that are considered precancerous. In laboratory test, the tars from marijuana smoke have produced tumors when applied to animal skin. These studies suggest that it is likely that marijuana may cause cancer if used for a number of years.

How does marijuana affect the heart?
Marijuana use increases the heart rate as much as 50 percent, depending on the amount of THC. It can cause chest pain in people who have a poor blood supply to the heart - and it produces these effects more rapidly than tobacco smoke does.

Govt funded lies, all garbage, try again, those are the same arguements I have heard since 1st grade.
All of can be discredited by using filtered smoking devices and ingestion. Next!

government research here has indicated the effects (i.e. stress) on the heart are similar to that of vigourous exercise, and was part of the reason they have recommended it be reduced from a class A drug to a class C drug

Damn....I didn't even know about weed in the first grade!

Of course, I am older, so maybe it wasn't around then.;)

Isn't smoking herb about 50% more cancerous than cigarettes?

What about short term memory?...does that deteriorate?

This isn't a flame...i really dont know if thats true or not, just remember reading about it.

It can get you jail time

More tar in it than a pack of cigarettes

Expensive

Could lead to no job (companies drug test)

Do you see my point.. I am not saying that weed is bad.. I am just saying that someone who says.. "I hate smoking.. I will not talk to smokers... let's go snort coke, eat X and dance all night" really bother me.

It's much 'cooler' to dismiss it and write it off as goverment funded lies then to admit that there is any truth to it, isn't it? I am not saying that they are undisputed facts, but there is no evidence suggesting they are 100% untrue.

Don't get me wrong, I will partake once in a while, but I'm not going to lie to myself and tell myself that it's all good.

The fact that if you walk down the street and smoke weed it is a crime is enough to discredit havoc's argument.

that is one negative thing.

now.. should that be illegal is another thing.

maybe if i had seen clever truth commercials or someone would have told me tobacco was whacko when i was a teen... i wouldn't be going to get zyban in about 5 mins.

I'm a big fan of weed, so I'm not trying to get on your case or anything. But is it not a fact that if anything is burned it becomes carcinogenic when inhaled? I'm pretty sure no filters or bongs can prevent cancer as long as burning smoke is still being inhaled.

MARRIJUANA MYTHS

EXPOSING MARIJUANA MYTHS

"The 31 August 1990 issue of the magazine Science notes that
of the over 800 volatile chemicals present in roasted COFFEE, only 21 have actually been
tested on animals and 16 of these cause cancer in rodents. Yet, coffee remains legal and
is generally considered fairly safe."

I want to know why someone will object to not only smoking cigarettes.. but to even having friends who smoke.. but will snort coke.. or eat X... or inject IP's prouducts.

What I mean by that is, no research has of yet been able to tell you the whole truth. Whether it is for or against weed, all of it is biased. So I would not be so quick and adamant about saying that marijuana is not bad for you that's all.

Friends who smoke are one thing but I think twice before dating someone who smokes because one, they smell like smoke, two, what if I fall in love with someone who ends up getting emphsema or lung cancer?

(I also don't snort coke or eat X or use IP's stuff)

If i would do coke or E it would be maybe once a month. If i used IP products it would be maybe 3 times a year but if i smoked it would be a daily even hourly addiction.

Some people don't like smokers breath or what their clothes smell like after a smoke and last i knew, coke, e and ip products don't make you smell! That's about what most people complain about. People won't say "Oh my god i don't want to talk to that guy because he is a cancer risk" they'll say they dont want to talk to him because he stinks!

Sorry :D

I would never refuse to hang out with a smoker (i used to be one) but i can see how somone would rather snort coke and eat x then smoke. With coke and x you you get more than just and addictive head rush/buzz. Psychoactive drugs are far supirior to tobbaco, effect wise anyway.

If your reffering to Marijuana there is no proof that it casue lung cancer, even when abused, which i dont think it should be. I smoke literaly a pinch of pot a day on and off since i was 13 with no ill effect. I know 80 year old who have smoked pot their whole life and are completley healthy. I know of NOONE who has gotten cancer from marijuana (i know ALOT of pot smokers). Sorry for going off topic again but i hate all the myths about the safest drug known to man. Read my links.

I agree.. but they have legal ramifications I would not want to endure.

(I also have a personal grudge against X and IP's stuff)

either way.. what I was getting at is.. how fucking hypocritical I find some of the chups on this board...

(Not you Salviadro.. you are cool in my book)

BaBa- BooeY: I havent (yet) but really, really want to, hence my name :D I just dont have the cash/means to get it right now. I like the fact that is a dissociative like K, pcp, and dxm, yet is it natural, not to mention legal.

dballer: Completely agree about X, that shit is bad. I used to be a raver and i know peopel who are seriously messed up from x, and just from useing a couple years. What are IP's?

yeah.. glad you got out of it. That stuff is pure shit.

IP is a dude from China who makes steroids and sells them on the net. He is notrorius for selling mis-dosed stuff (under and over labled dose), non-sterile oils and sometimes you will not even get your stuff.

D baller, Polarpixie and others, some great replies with truth all in them, wish I had more time to answer but I don't so here is the short version for today: I like to use myself as an example when it comes to herb, any "so called " negative about it has yet to effect me in any way, shape or form. Now anything you abuse is detrimental, also someone posted the marijuana myth link, I have read that entire book accompanied with 8 years of research about herb and can personally not find any "so called " negatives about it, even the fact that it is illegal or I could lose my job is not considered a negative to me, I take nothing in life to serious where it becomes an honest "negative". But you both as well as others had good points, no great points actually, I was not trying to be disrespectful, I just personally have not experienced a negative with herb when using it in a moderative fashion. Like I have stated before, those negatives might be associated with chronic and abusive smokers, in 2 months time I don't inhale a ciggarettes worth of herb, when I get inclined I take one hit only, not everyone uses herb in an incorrect fashion is all I am saying, peace, have a safe day

My short reply: Word! Agreed. Moderation is key. Keep your eyes open and make your own informed decision about what you choose to put into your body.

db: sorry i know this was a little off topic...i'm done. ;)

The main reason I can think of is that most smokers have no consideration for those around them. When around a smoker they usually give you no option. You basically have to suck in the same smoky air that they breathe out. Clothes, hair, and everything else around smells like cigarette smoke in a matter of seconds. I have nothing against smokers except what I have stated above.

I would like to know however why the hell are they killing themselves with something that doesn't even give you a buzz or make you look better???

I used to smoke, its VERY addictive, more so than cocaine most people will say. It was harder for me to quit smoking than it was to quit coke.

Why do they look at me funny when I go out to eat and they say "smoking or non-smoking?" and I ask for the cocaine section?

I don't get it...

HAHAHAHAHAA

good one!!

How about.. "Hey man... put out that nasty cigarette.. have some class... cheat on your wife.. or forge a prescription."

I am gonna try that cocaine section thing next time I go out!!!

I'd much rather sit in the cocaine section...maybe even the herion section of a restaurant than a smoking section. I mean...when was the last time you were sitting there and someone was about to shoot up with heroin and they slipped, missed themselves...and hit you with a good dose?

You can always ask for a drinking section...or a nose picking section. Some bars here have a section for rednecks...that is where I always sit.

YOU GUYS ARE ALL ARGUING OVER A MISUNDERSTANDING.

WHEN SOMEONE SAYS "I SMOKE," MOST PEOPLE HERE PROBABLY THINK THAT MEANS HALF A PACK A DAY, PACK A DAY, ETC. I.E. A HABIT THAT AFFECTS THEIR LIFE MANY TIMES A DAY.

WHEN SOMEONE SAYS "I DRINK" OR "I USE X" OR "I SMOKE WEED" THAT NORMALL MEANS "OCCASIONALLY" AS IN "A FEW TIMES A WEEK". I.E. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT AFFECTS THEIR LIFE MANY TIMES A DAY.

DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE.

IF SOMEONE WERE TO SMOKE WEED, SNORT COKE, DRINK ALCOHOL, 5-10 TIMES A DAY I WOULD FIND IT JUST AS ABHORRENT AS I DO SMOKING IF NOT MORE SO.

WHEN YOU SAY "PEOPLE WHO SMOKE" YOU MUST CLARIFY WHAT YOU MEAN. WHEN YOU SAY "PEOPLE WHO USE X" YOU MUST CLARIFY WHAT YOU MEAN.

IT'S ALL BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT CLARIFIED.

Cooked brain cells! I am not opposed to burning one from time to time but the people I know who smoke on a regular basis are cooked. They also have a nice cancer cough going on.
