Ok peeps, what's the better prescription cholesterol drugs out there that would not affect my lifting from people who took any....I mean muscle weakness is what I worry about...

Also, my test levels from what my doc told me are a "little lower" than it should be....don't have any numbers right now till I call him back, I do not feel my test is low but the numbers don't lie I guess.....I'm 35 should I go on HRT if it's offered to me? Not sure if I should or shouldn't what do you all think?
Thanks

Seriously, I actually tested this one. My husband's total cholesterol was about 206 and his other numbers weren't so hot. I started making him steel cut oats for breakfast, threw raisins in for taste, put some walnuts and almonds in it for good EFAs. Two months later his total cholesterol was down to 180 and everything else was great. The only difference was the morning oatmeal.

Well, I already eat 1 cup of oats every morning for the past 6 months or more as I can remember.
The only thing I can think of is the fact that it might be genetics, as my dad's cholestrol is 200 regardless how good he eats.....I'm not too crazy about the meds though that's why I'm asking

Flax seed oil is good for lowering bad cholesterol.

I'm already taking the usual stuff like flax seed oil, niacin, etc
That's why I was suprised of the results.....

I have a friend who is in his early 40's and does strongman and is on HRT and was previously taking cholestroal and BP meds due to stuff that ran in his family and when he went on hrt all his numbers were back in the safe range and they took him off the meds. Amazing how a small imbalance like that can throw everything off! Don't listen to us tho man, the doc knows whats best for you so i would do what he says.

Doctors are influenced by pharma reps, especially for drugs that people are put on for life.

You are only 35, I find it quite amazing that you are considering starting statin therapy now.

OMG, I just did the conversion 200 mg/dl is only 5 mmol/L.

That is not a bad cholesterol level.

That is normal.

If your cholesterol drops below 3 mmol/L or 116 mg/dl (actually if your cholesterol drops significantly AT ALL ie. statin therapy, there is a greater tendency to depression and death from violent causes, and I have the paper that found this somewhere), you are probably malnourished and more likely to throw yourself off a bridge.

I think the pharma industry has done some evil brainwashing in the USA.

You do not need statins. There are all sorts of issues with statin therapy that is just beginning to emerge.

I will do a bit of a search on BMJ tomorrow to refresh my memory about a few of these issues and post them up.

You are right TAT, if i am correct we are the only country where pharmaceutical companies can advertise on TV. They should not be advertising for you to ask you doctor for drugs, it is the docs job to give you the right drug for a problem you have. Not see a commercial on TV for lunesta and because you had trouble falling asleep a few nights last month you think you need sleeping pills. I know way to many people that are like that.
