Hmmm nope not really, I hate pizza. And I actually enjoy eating healthy foods, usually on my reward days I have healthy foods most of the time. Like instead of oatmeal in the morning, I'll have a multi-grain bagel. Or I'll have peanut butter on a rice cake, with slices of banana.

Really I can't eat junk food it makes me sick.

God, I admire you! You, Jen, Bunny and Velvett are the most patient and nicest people I've ever seen.

You must spread some Karma around before giving it to Miss24k again.

:worried:

Not a good choice there, girlie. That roast "beef" is junk -- full of crap, nitrites, sugar, etc.... You'd be better off buying a hunk of beef, throwing in the crock pot on low before work & eating that.....Fast food is not the way to go....

I had a feeling. :( No cooking tonight and the kids wanted arby's and shakes..so i used my 5 for $6 coupon and well...u know the rest.
I didn't think about sugar in the meat. But trust me, once the bun was removed there wasn't much there :lmao:
I'm having constant hunger issues and it's really difficult. I don't know what to do and can't stand the hunger. :worried:

Are you getting enough healthy fats in your diet??

Miss24k said:
She's getting enough healthy fats, she's not getting enough clean carbs....

I have recommended a 40/30/30 so many times that I have lost count.

The Shadow said:

I've also recommended that...

But someone insists on a low carb diet, thinking that they won't crash and binge, because they'll done it, are used to it, and it works for them.....

The fact that you are "supplementing" with fast food/junk food is WHY you are having hunger cravings. These foods are nutritionally void and will jack up your calorie total for the day without really providing you with any nutrition.

Going from a crappy diet to a healthy one can cause sugar cravings, etc due to withdrawl.

If you get chocolate cravings -- buy a bar of good quality dark chocolate (like Hershey's Special Dark or Godiva, etc) & have ONE piece. Plus you need nutritionally dense carbs, fats & proteins.

^^^everything that they said...

Sweetie...you know you are not doing okay foodwise... re-read your log and posts...

You can do this Cher... :rose:

:bawling: I just don't think i can do this. :bawling:
*excuse me while i feel sorry for myself*

Ok, I'm sorry! Ok the roast beef was a bad idea...I really didn't think it was bad..its' just meat. But as jenscats pointed out..has sugar and crap in it.
The 2 pieces of pizza was bad, i know. I guess i'm a little tired of salads and chicken. I need to find some ways to cook the chicken so it doesnt taste dried out and so "white".
Please don't give up on me!
 Thanks bunny! Encouragement for me is Crucial... all i hear is "you're so tiny" and my hubby always says "you look fine", now of course i wouldn't want to hear "yer fat, get on a diet", but being able to talk about a diet and getting encouragement is something I need!
Thanks miss24k for all your help...your are "pure gold" ;) *Jenscats, thank you so much for taking the time to look at my log and give advice
Shadow , all wise muscle God.... a little help with the 40 30 30. How can you be sure to get it..and yes i'm using fitday.

We are here to help you see the light, try new things, encourage you, inspire you, motivate you and more...

You will never know how your body will react to different things if you don't try them... TRUST ME I know this and I wouldn't put all this effort into what I do, my log, my pics etc if I didn't want to motivate the hell out of ya'll...

:( I thought I was doing okay..foodwise.

Ok I'm going to say this 1 more time... ok.....

I know you said the low carb thing is what you're used to and that it works for you, but apparently it's not, because incase you haven't noticed you eat decent for a few days minus the carbs, and then you crash and eat some junk.

So GET IT OUT OF YOUR HEAD THAT LOW CRBS WORK FOR YOU, CAUSE THEY AREN'T!!!

Now....

You weight about 106lbs right? Ok so keep your calorie intake between 1060 and 1272, keep your protein at 40%, carbs at 30% and fats also at 30%. And you'll be tracking your foods with fitday so you know what's what.

Protein sources: chicken breast, turkey, fish, lean red meat egg whites, protein powder

Carb sources: sweet potato brown rice (not that sh*t you get in the package, it's processed get a bag of brown rice, you need to cook it for like 50 minutes cook a few cups at a time, so you aren't cooking that stuff everyday), oatmeal, cream of brown rice, cream of wheat, veggies, low GI fruits (berries, green apples)

Fat sources: almonds, peanut butter almond butter, olive oil, coconut oil, flaxseed oil, avocado

So for the day you should get between:

106-127 g of protein
80-95g of carbs
35-42g of fats

Eat 6 meals a day with between 18g - 21g of protein at each meal.
4 meals have between 20g - 24g of carbs, do not eat any carbs 4 hours before you sleep.
2 meals have between 17g - 21g of fats. Last meal of the day should have fat.

So

meal 1
protein and carbs

meal 2
protein and fats

meal 3
protein and carbs

meal 4
protein and carbs

meal 5
protein and carbs

meal 6
protein and fats

Make sure NEVER to have fats after working out.

Hope this helps :)

And this is FREE ADVICE... people waste TONS of money for this

:wavey:

Thanks miss24! :verygood: I do eat some healthy carbs..ie; oatmeal , protein pancakes, salad veggies, broc & cauli, green beans and spinach. And I like that stuff..really! I have some sweet potatoes here..only ate em' once, i will make some more, and I bought a bag of uncle ben's plain brown rice.
Shadow; I have been eating alot of the things on the diet u outlined...but like for instance, i need more than just a shake when i wake up. I can't follow it exactly..plus i'd get bored .
I eat almonds everyday *or nearly* I eat tuna about everyday too.. The Supper meal is hardest for me. :worried:

LOL, how do you know you're going to get bored if you can't even do it for a day ??

So lets recap:

Eating a lot of the things......

Need more than a shake.....

Supper is hardest.....

blah blah blah

Bottom line:

you havent followed the diet as outlined for even a day.....the reason you need "more than" a shake is because you just admitted that your evening meal is pretty crappy.

...this is a perfect example of why knowledge IS NOT power.

APPLIED knowledge is power.

You seem to want to piss and moan about lack of results and then spit out terms like "bored" and "cant" and say that "support is critical"......you just need to want it

and you obviously dont.

Good luck....Im done

You're right and you do know you, and if you can't eat the tuna then don't. If you don't want to eat and live a healthier lifestyle then don't...Really at the end of the day, you need to do what's best for you.

Either you want to have a healthier body or you don't....You need to ask yourself that question, cause we can give you the tools and repeat this information over and over again, but it's really up to you to pick up the tools and work.

If you're bored with something try preparing it another way, there is a recipe thread at the top of the board with many delicious recipes.

You have the will power to do this, you can do whatever you put your mind to, it's just do you really want to.

We're more than happy to help you, but you need to stop making excuses. Either do it and give it 110% or don't....

It's your decision hun....So do what's best for YOU! :rose:

If you need different ways to make chicken -- just look at the Recipe Thread! for ideas. There are a bunch of ideas where I typed up a recipe for chicken that's healthy & different.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO EAT PLAIN CHICKEN!!

You need to make the time for a healthier lifestyle. If you are truly tired of how you feel eating crap food, then do it!! If you have ? on how to prepare foods, ask me!

Thanks jenscats! Actually chicken has always been my favorite food, so that's in my favor. Mind you broasted chicken legs w/skin would be #1....but obviously that's out. :laugh2:
I've been thinking of marinating....i am a "spur of the moment" person and it's a real battle to plan meals in advance and marinating means planning. I have some sesame ginger lowfat Newman salad dressing that is an oily type that i thought would be good *not real crazy about it on salad, a lil too spicy*. I also have some itallian. Just putting it off cuz i'm unsure of the process and time to marinate.

I have looked thru the recipe sticky...apparently not the right pages. :)
Thanks!

Yep -- I like that Newman's dressing as a marinade too. It's also good with fish (like salmon).

There's a lime chicken recipe in there & a Turkey Broccoli Bake that're both good -- you can use chicken in it if you want. The "chicken parmesan" using spaghetti squash is also very good.

I highly recommend Mrs Dash seasonings -- they are salt free & you can stock up when on sale. Check out any local discount stores you may have for discounted spices.

If there's something specific you want, let me know....

I just got some mrs dash, haven't had an opportunity to try it yet.
I will check out the turkey brocolli bake and lime chicken recipe. I am allergic to squash so i'll skip that one. I made a tilapia recipe the other day (also posted it in the recipe sticky) the one u told me to skip the mayo and butter...and i really liked it alot. I just got some more tilapia at the store, can't wait to have it again.
It's a good thing i like fish and chicken. My poor mom hates both of them and won't eat them.(except for nasty mcdonalds fish sandwiches..which barely qualifies as Fish.)
Thanks jen!

Any other allergies??

Look @ the Puttanesca recipe (you can skip the capers). You could use that on chicken, fish or shrimp + brown rice.

Try the twice baked sweet potato too. Page 9 has a good mashed potato replacement.

And your welcome!! I get lazy & just eat the same things over & over. But I can post up some more chicken recipes as I redo them....

EZ CHEEZEE!!

Buy a bag (or 2 or 3) of veggies for stir fry. Bird's Eye makes some good ones -- get different ones & combine them. (I get them on sale.) Pour them all into a large fry pan. Add veggie broth & spices & low-sodium soy sauce. You can also add a spoonful or 2 of Hoisin sauce -- which you can find in the Oriental section of the grocery store. Also chile-garlic sauce is good too. These bottled sauces will really kick up the veggies, the broth will thin it out so you don't have to use as much as sauces still have calories. Saute until veggies are cooked. (You could also microwave all this)

Cut raw chicken into thin strips. Marinate as you wish. Stir fry in a hot pan until cooked over high heat. Make sure the chicken is in very thin strips as it will cook faster.

Serve chicken & veggies together -- over brown rice if desired.

what is veggie broth...ya mean like chicken broth?
The veggies i bought are stir fry veggies..el cheapo and don't come w/ any seasoning packets.
I have heard of hoisin, what does it taste like? Is it carby or fattening?
I love love love love  chinese food.. :p

Jenscats you are da bomb!!!! I wish you lived in indiana :( I would love to pick your brain :bright: for meal ideas for the family that they will like and i can eat.. It's such a battle (picky kids too :worried: )

Yes, veggie broth is like chicken broth, except that instead of being made out of chickens, it's made out of veggies. :lmao: Use low-sodium, defatted chix broth if you can't find veggie.

RE: the veggies -- Yes, get the plain bags of frozen veggies -- I like Bird's Eye as I like their combinations.

Hoisin sauce has sugar in it -- so only use a tad -- it's spicy/sweet, but not overly spicy. The Oriental section of your grocery store should have some stir-fry sauces -- check the labels.

I am but a mouse-click away..... Pick away...

Oh & I've read that you need to introduce, then re-introduce the same food 7 times, I think, before kids will try it....believe me, they won't starve to death. :lmao:

You are a peach jenscats.
I have never seen veggie broth, pretty sure we don't have it in our reg. grocery stores.
Today i was craving chicken salad on a low carb tortilla. :p Do ya have a recipe for healthy chicken salad darlin?? ;)

meal 2: ate some animal crackers "eek!" cuz i went tooo long w/out eating, then had can albacore, 1 tbs lite mayo, mustard, 3 triscuit lowfat, 4 wheat ritz
The taste of sugar really screwed me over, ate 1 chips ahoy...and a fudge round.
meal 3: salmon quesadilla, s/f tang
feeling really fat and bloated, and yes i know...i deserve it :worried:

I don't know how close you are to Indianapolis, but there are Trader Joe's stores there. If you're close -- check with them. (their website is www.traderjoes.com)

Otherwise, low sodium/defatted chix broth is fine.

Chicken salad: Mix X amount of chopped chicken with 1 tblsp FF mayo, touch of Apple Cider Vinegar or broth, minced veggies (scallion, celery, onion, bell pepper, tomatoes) & if you need more of a creamy texture, add 1/2 tblsp of plain yogurt or FF sour cream. Spoon onto tortilla lined with lettuce/spinach.

I just feel powerless sometimes, and it's just ridiculous...i mean who is in control me or the food? Well it seems like the food wins out more times than not.
I need help!

YES!!! You spilled the beans (er..cookies)

Ok, First of all , thank you for being open about it. I'm sure other women on here have the SAME cravings, you are NOT alone, whether they are afraid to post, etc... you are NOT alone.

I can only go by what I know...IMO, I made the proper food choices and adjustments to my diet and the cravings evenutally just went away, but resurface every now and then. I will be honest, I have cravings and terrible food FITs (one just recently actually) and they are not pretty.

All you can do is TRY to do your best ...

My willpower did NOT happen over night. Keep your goal in mind and you already know what it will take to get there...

I believe in you Cher...... Dust yourself off and try again..

Good luck...:rose:

You have NO IDEA how good my memory is, it's sick. My bf calls be a freak all the time because of it, for example I only have to see a telephone number 1 time and I'll remember it.

Anyway well girl, we can tell you things you should do until we are blue in the face (well in this case blue in the finger tips) but you're the 1 that needs to look inside you and get the willpower to say no to the sweets. Keep some fruit in your diet, that may help with the sugar cravings, chew sugarless gum.

I don't know how much more help you want, we give you all sorts of advice. We can't exactly come to your house and tell you no you can't eat that, you got to do it on your own. I wish you the best of luck. Girlie I mean this in the nicest possible way, YOU NEED TO GET SOME WILLPOWER.

:rose: :)

Oh and don't give up, like I've said before if you fall, get up and start all over again until you get it right.

LMAO GET OUT OF MY HEAD LIL ONE :bigkiss:

It does take a little time to get into the "diet zone" in your mind. I generally estimate about 3 weeks to get the good habits established, including getting the sweet tooth gone. But once you start to notice results, it becomes more and more obvious that it feels better to make that progress than to chow on some junk food that looks good. That is the mind set I have to maintain, and eventually I start believing it ;)

I drink lots of Crystal Lite and chew a lot of sugar-free gum as well.... :)

That's so true.

Also, I have packs and packs of DENTYNE FIRE in my office, car, gym, and kitchen.

Anytime I'm in the marketor drugstore I buy a bunch.

It's an oral thing - actually I think most eating other than for fuel is an emotional oral thing.

Believe me, I know i need some willpower. I can do it for a while and then i quit. At least lately anyway.
I have done it in the past, I don't know how i did though.
I don't expect anymore advice from anyone..I really appreciate everything u guys have done.. and miss 24k for all the diet info. I have it saved on my computer. ANd Jenscats for all the recipe help, i will be asking for more for sure. ;) I will just keep trying and logging as embarrassing as it is to post failures, i will be honest about it and hopefully not catch too much crap  .
I really appreciate the inspiring motivational words. It really means a lot.
I know i just have to want it enough to say no to the sugar, but it truly is an addiction.
My mom is very overweight and always has been. SHe has a TON of health problems because of it. YOu would think that alone would be enough to keep me motivated. Plus she is a major sugar junkie and eats it even though she's severely diabetic.
I need to make more time to fix food in advance and that would help i'm sure.
Just wanted to thank everyone, and i know it's me that has to get over this emotional eating.
This weekend is going to be tough, it's my sons birthday monday and we are having a party for him on sunda, and i will be making lots of desserts. Plus more treats for his class party at school on monday and then something monday night for his actual b'day. UGH!! :worried:
WIsh me luck! Btw..he will be 8 years old ;)
p.s) YOu guys are awesome!!!

It does take soem time to get your mind in the right place and we know you can do it when you are really ready :) Then its just like riding a bike. But, hey, everyone falls off a bike now & again!

Thank you Ms. Freud.... ;)

Actually a lot of your food issues could be mental & in your head. Do you have health insurance?? A few visits with a psychologist might help you get over your food issues or at least be aware of where they are coming from.

I do have health insurance, not sure if it would cover that though.
I think it's just that i looooves me some chocolate and sugar. But then again, i went to a couple bday parties a month or so ago and didn't eat anything there. Now why is that? Sometimes i can and sometimes i can't.
I don't know.!!! I hate myself sometimes :(
I got so upset with a recent cheat that i actually tried to throw up. And couldn't.. I was so mad  I've never done that before though. And I couldn't get anything up...all i got was major cramping under my tongue for some wierd reason.. and i thought "well that's what ya get for eating that..you'll have to live with it.
I'm finding more and more that i try to i guess cause failures..like with the eating...paying bills late, waiting till the last min. to do something important. It's almost as if I want to fail. I think i do need a shrink. :freak:
Anyway, i'm not gonna have a pity party.. I'm just going to try to keep logging and even if the choices suck, i'll be honest. It's embarassing to post it, but that will be part of the punishment. I am going to be extremely busy this wkend , but i will try my best to keep up.

I feel embarassed to post what I eat sometimes too -- cuz I love food!! And I'm not willing to give up certain things, so it'll take me prolly 2x as long to get to where I want. Oh well.

But if you're thinking of throwing up, trying & giving up & hating yourself -- there might be more to the issue than just not having willpower. There are psychologists who specialize in food issues, really. And call your ins. co & ask -- the worst they can do is say "No we don't cover that." You don't have to tell them you have food issues -- just ask what they cover for mental health.

And food shouldn't be a punishment/reward issue. Food is gas/oil/radiator fluid just like you put in your car. It's fuel, but it's also enjoyable.

Think about this: What type of an eater are you?? Do you like to pick all day?? Graze?? Eat large quantities/large meals? Think about it & try to find a "style" of eating you fall into, then develop your "healthy" eating plan towards that.

For example -- if you're a picker/grazer, you won't be happy only eating 3 meals a day. Lots of very small meals + snacks is the way to go.

You seem to like the junk food/snacks a lot. Start small & start by reading labels. For example, 1 serving of Doritos is 15 chips, while 1 serving of Goldfish is 70 fish. I'd rather satisfy my "emotional/mouth orgasm" by eating the Goldfish, cuz I get more & it takes longer to eat. Pretzels are better than potato chips. Homemade potato chips are better than those bought in a bag.

When you buy chips & snacks -- bring them home & divide the ENTIRE bag into individual serving sizes in sandwich Ziploc bags. That way you have a bunch of Ziploc bags. When you want a snack -- have 1. Buy some rich Chocolate bars -- Like Hershey's Special Dark. When you want chocolate -- have 1 or 2 blocks. Don't try to give up all the snacks overnight -- pare them down 1 by 1 -- baby steps. Also start replacing your favorite snacks with healthier options. Let me know what your favorite ones are & I can think of some ideas for you.

You DON'T have to give up everything overnight. You can do this -- we are here for you.

Hun reading that you tried to throw up your food really hit a cord with me… If you want to talk about anything pm me and I will give you my phone number… I have been there. I am a recovering bulimic and anorexic. I started in elementary school, and only finally went into rehab last summer. I deal with it EVERYDAY and everyday is some sort of struggle!! There are probably other issues that you are having but you are trying to control them with your food… So when you are able to control your cravings you feel on top of the world. But when you are not able to, you feel like you have lost all control in your life.. You need to deal with that first before anything else. Realize that you WILL NOT loss weight throwing up your food.. Your body is WAY to smart for that. If you make yourself throw up your body goes into fight or flight mode, and anything you eat after that for a period of time your body will store it because it is afraid you will do it again… BELIEVE I KNOW!!! Most bulimics are either normal weight or a little over weight so don’t be fooled... IT DOESN’T WORK!!!

Well said Jens...

Huney don't you dare try that again, we're for you, and we're listening, psot up a thread if you're getting those feelings and we'll help you through it. But definiately do not try to make yourself throw up and hate yourself for it, it's a lifestyle, and if there's some things you don't want to give up you don't have to it's your choice.

You can make healthier treats. I know you said you like muffins, well use oat flour instead of white flour, use splenda instead of sugar, use carob or dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate.

:rose:
