Check out this video

That video is an absolute fucking joke, lol...It should be a criminal offense for anybody to market that as 'instructional'.....that should be a 'what not to do' video.....actually, it pisses me off so much I can't even make fun of it.

HAHA. I knew you'd probably the most angry at it. I'm no cleaning expert but it portrays just about every common mistake that people make when they attempt to power clean.

do you guys mind pointing out what is wrong?

Before I address your question, I hope nobody takes my comments the wrong way, when somebody posts a vid asking for critique of a lift, I am more than happy to give it (if I am capable, lol), the olympic lifts are tough and having form critique is necessary, and most everybody has trouble at first and even form issues here and there when they are more advanced...But THIS was posted on a supposed credible site as an INSTRUCTIONAL video, and that annoys the hell out of me.

For your question. The whole thing is wrong. I'd type all day explaining what was actually wrong, what I can do is give a brief description on how to clean if you want me to....but it is impossible to pick out mistakes in the vid because it isn't like theres only a few.... the whole thing is a train wreck.....

Check out this site for the correct form, then if you have any questions, bring them up.

OMG - i just saw the bb.com vid... i actually want to laugh... wow!
i'm no clean expert myself, and yet that is just so wrong... this is bb.com sinking to a level even lower than i never imagined it could sink to....

I have 2 questions, one with the video..

In that video of Dimitri, are you supposed to squat down that far then blow it upward?

and when bringing the bar up to your shoulders, how do you know exactly where to put it without breaking any bones? I would be scared of having 400lbs slamming onto my throat like that.

You don't have to squat down like he does, it's just what he does to setup. A lot of lifters even use a static start.

The clean rack is the same position for your front squat. As a lifter progresses they will be able to support more and more weight in that position, as in any other exercise.

Also, that's around 485lbs.

im not being condescending...but generally....you don't put 400lbs anywhere, the bar is traveling up and you place yourself under it. the technique should be such that the bar moves in a very specific path, there isnt' much guiding it so you "rack" it in generally the same way each time. not sure if you are following me. if you havent studied cleans you might not. look over the technique and you'll understand the terminology and how the mechanics make sense.

It seems every squat style has it's place now lol. I was just thinking that what if the person were to catch the bar an inch too close to his neck.. Nate, I get what you are saying about it. The only cleans I have ever done was light weight cleans which I didn't have to squat under the bar much. (probably horrible form too..)

I would give K..only if you like it grey though :p

Sad thing is, I know 13 year olds with better power clean form than that guy in the bb video. And that woman deadlifting the bar is just ridiculous. I'm about to record some footage of olympic lifters doing cleans and snatches at my gym and send them into bb.

blitz your getting karma for finding that too.
lol

LMAO!

Those are nice vids. Explosive lifting is dangerous guys so these vids are a nice way to learn to do the C&J and snatch w/out using dangerous explosive momentum. LoL :P

I wonder if they've ever seen a true clean/snatch . . . you know, the ones where the lifter's hair is in anti-gravity mode as the lifter drops under the bar, etc.

The BB.Com version really isolates the outer front delts and maximizes TUT.

The guy the in the camo looks like he has a huge upper body. I find it hard to believe he needs to add a leg drive to press 170 pounds.

I used freebsd for a while but ended up on Fedora due to a proprietary package I needed to use. These days, most of my time is spent on the Mac.

I grabbed the file once I realised that the .wvx file was just a text file with a link to the wmv.

The guy is doing a simple clean but he obviously took lessons from someone quite a bit taller than he is so the bar just overshoots slightly.

The most satisfying thing for me to watch are a few of his recent videos where he does full front squats and full back squats.

Check it out, he "squats" nearly 400, but can't get 100kg as to the grass for more than 2 or 3 reps. Keep in mind, I train with a 63kg girl (a very beautiful girl at that) that cleans 105kg from blocks.

Look at him struggle like a little bitch. So much for all the talk. The atg squats are proof that the boy can't actually pull any more than 350. Nobody on this planet pulls 500 (220+kg) and is unable to backsquat 100kg.

Now that is not a pretty sight.

Here's a direct link to the vid file.

LOL. god that was a good laugh. It's amazing how someone can have huge arms like that, with such weak legs.

It's one of the old adages that you can grow your upper body by working the lower but it doesn't work the other way around.

If you have to pick just one exercise, make it squats.

18 months going on since I first saw max's infamous '300 parallel squat' vid and his lil legs still look like something Colonel Saunders would dip in batter. Big ego = little muscles

In the 5-6 month's I've been training he has made absolutley no gains in his lifts at all. I've watched a lot of his vids (as they are simply histarical) in the past and see that there's some new recent ones up there...

It is quite sad actually.

bump, because in the printed bb.com advert running in magazines they have the line "See a video demonstration of the correct way to do the clean and press"

I shit you not.
