ok, i'm finally moving out of these damn dorms and i'm gonna get back on track with the dieting i was doing before i moved here. no more fast food!!! i'm so excited. i'm sick to death of it. anyways what i'm wonderin is...to keep myself from going insane, how often should i have a cheat day? every 4 days? 7 days? what's best?

Depends what you're doing. If cutting, then it depends on your diet and how many carbs you get. Even then, you really shouldn't have a "cheat day" per se. It should be controlled and planned just like a normal day. Meaning, going to McDonalds is probably a bad idea, but eating lots of sugar might not be too bad.

If you're bulking, well hell, it depends how much fat you mind gaining. Its certainly not going to hurt you too much though, while bulking. You want calories right? Get 'em :D

Well, what does your diet look like, or at least the planned diet. How about a p/c/f breakdown, stats, etc.

I think people like to have weekley refeeds to keep their sanity, but then again, I've seen their diets and its pretty hardcore. I've only been on my cutting diet about 2 weeks now. I've had a "cheat meal" but, it was still relatively healthy, and the rest of the day was balanced out to make up for that. Recently I've been craving sugar, but, not enough to break my diet.

It all depends what you can go through. I get 30% carbs a day, so, refeeds are not necessary for me, I think. If you're on a more extreme diet, or if you feel like you're about to break the diet, have a refeed, but plan it.

I like to look through pics of people who are ripped in order to keep my determination. One of my friends, she used to post pics of models on the refrigerator in order to keep her determination when dieting. I'd do the same, but, putting up pics of guys just seems... wrong... and gay (not that there's anything wrong with that. *maintains political correctness*)

Refeeds should be planned weekly regardless of the type of diet that you're on. Dieting in general will drop leptin levels regardless of how many carbs you get in the diet. Refeeds aren't meant to reward youself or prevent you from breaking the diet phsycologically, they are helping you out hormonally by restoring leptin levels. When leptin levels drop your body begins to fight against your diet more fiercely and your hunger will increase along with a slough of other negative effects. Hunger is just the most apparent issue. It has nothing to do with will power and everything to do with hormone manipulation.

i agree with vageta that they should be planned weely, though i only think this if your bodyfat percentage isnt toooo high like under 15 or so, if you are really high in bodyfat then i dont think a refeed would be needed for a while because your leptin levels would already be high enough.
