cheap, yet efficient protein

hey guys... i am 17 and although my mom is a chef, she doesn't have time to make me 5-6 meals a day. I am wondering what the most efficient protein for cheap prices are.

Today at the store i bought

ANPB
Milk
Nuts (i like almonds)
Cheese

i know meat and fish as well, but are there any other good sources of protein that won't cost too much money. I am willing to spend some cash at the store when all of this runs out, and want to know how to get the most for my money

Thanks

at17 you shouldnt need your mother to cook you food. learn how to cook its easy. milk, hard boiled eggs, tuna fish are all high quality proteins that you can buy ready to go. nuts and pb are not a good protein source. they are a good fat source. cheese isnt bad because its dairy but its more processed than milk so id say use more milk than cheese since its the same but better.

Hey bro... You know Ive figured up the cost of eggs vs tuna vs chicken breast and by the time you get the same amount of protein from each source, they all seem to work out to be about the same cost. Now certain brands of tuna are cheaper than others. And you can catch any of them on sale. If say chicken goes on sale, get a bunch and throw it in the freezer.

I noticed that you didnt list protein powder as a source of protein. Again cost is about the same, but it gives you a convenience you cant match with food. ie take powder in a shaker cup when you go train. when done, add water to it and drink immediately after you are done. you'll get better results from your training by doing this versus getting in the car, driving home, cooking food and then eating an hour later. You have about a 30 minute window post workout to get that protein and some complex carbs in. Take a baked potato with you. Something you can throw in your gym bag and you can eat it like an apple so is easy.

One other tip that I will give you as far as the cooking goes - cook a bunch of food at once. Instead of cooking every day, get some storage containers, and cook say 4 cups of brown rice at one time and eat it over the course of a few days. Brown rice will stay good for up to a week. Same with chicken breast - cook the entire 3 lb bag at a time. Get a food scale and weigh it out as you are going to eat it. Makes life a lot easier.

I give you props for being as dedicated to your training as you are at your age. There are a lot of other things you could be doing that arent as positive an impact on your future. Keep it up.

With hard work in the gym, proper eating, and good sleep you should be able to reach your goals.

thanks guys.. very helpful

joed- i actually just started learning how to cook.. learned to make an omelet the other day :)

pb- yeah i have protein powder. It just ran out, and my dad wants to check it with his doctor because since he saw EF on my computer and also saw "anabolic steroid cycles" in big letters he got suspicious haha- thanks for that last comment btw- i've always tried to steer clear of that other shit and although i am around it infrequently, i choose not to touch it when i am.

you're welcome. that's funny. i can understand your dads concern. where you gettin your protein? if mail-order, maybe you and dad go down to the local GNC and buy it together there for the time being. You dont wanna be without that for long.

not only that stuff, but it's good to see that your ass isnt glued to the couch in front of an xbox too.
