What is the support address? I tried to use the support link on the main forum page, but it doesn't seem to recognize me: "// Login / Create / Recover your Account
The username and password combination you entered did not match any user we have on record. "

Is this another case of "service is a Platinum feature"?
 
Screw the Karma....(hey I like it jsut as much as the next guy)....make a usuable search option. I can't count how many times I have tried to search for something (because people ALWAYS bitch about newbie questions) and had no idea what the hell I was looking at.

Interesting concept, but that would not satisfy the terms of my challenge. He needs to throw us a bone, something fairly substantial, with meat on it.
 
I think turing the full featured search function on for non plats would be awesome.

However, it was probably the use of that feature being removed that made me go plat more then anything.

It wouldn't have to be full-featured to satisfy the terms of my challenge. It could still be limited in the number of hits it returns. 8 hits is a bit chintzy, I think 16 would do. The Google search is worse than useless.

I agree the google search is totally worthless. I don't even understand why they bother with it.

I'd say a limited number of searches per day, say 5, but make them full featured and return all posts.

Seriously, where is the support address hidden? I'm apparently too dense to figure this out. The "Contact Us" link failed, as described above, as did the "Customer Service -- Need help? We're here for you!" link on the main forum page.
 
db, the support address is the same as the contact us link. you have to sign up the first time you use it. just use the same username as on elite so admin knows who they are dealing with

Most people think that, or dianabol. More than one person has confused me with the legendary DBaller. I know DBaller, but I'm not him.

"dB" is the SI (metric system) symbol for decibel, hence the lower case "d" and upper case "B".
 
the DB being the diferentiator of this site (besides the people, but GS does not own the people) I can GUARANTEE you will not get access to the DB for non-plats... other karmic-perks you could.

I like the "pay for search with karma" and "limited searches per day" approach

Notice that I never asked for the full Platinum Search for non-plats, just a search that is useable and functional. I'm not out to eliminate the incentives for membership upgrades, I just want to see a good faith gesture from EF. In other words, I want a reason to WANT to support the site, rather than supporting the site under duress because of the eroding non-plat feature set.

Mr. db,

I have several more thoughts on the matter.

First, it is very generous of you to offer to go Platinum in exchange for a selfless act for non-plats. And since I'm so certain we can work something out that will make everyone happy, and since I'm so glad to hear how much you enjoyed being Platinum during your free trial, that I set you to Platinum while we figure out what will make you and everyone else happy!

Second, we have added many new features for both the Plats and the non Plats. There's neat stuff for the non-Plats in the Karma store, the Karma bookie forum is open to all, the "New Posts" feature is for everyone, and Karma Poker will be open to all when it is finished.

Third, Google has assigned us a technician who is helping us make the google search better - really. We may also develop the same search with Yahoo - so there will be more options. We had to make Platinum Search a restricted feature because of the enormous size of our database. Here's how it was explained to me. As the database grows (and remember, we have 10 years worth of material) there is more to look through when a search is performed. When everyone starts searching at the same time, the impact on the site can overwhelm the servers. Think of a search for say, "Testosterone" there are thousands of results. And unlike a google search which is run on other servers and has an index, a Platinum Search for "Testosterone" combs through our database in real time finding even the most recent posts and has a huge performance penalty if it is open to all. You'll probably start to see some restrictions put on the other sites' searches in several years assuming that they are still around and assuming that their databases continue to grow.

Fourth, I will be thinking about what I can do with the Karma Spread and Max daily hits for non-Plats. Would everyone be happy if we lowered the non-Plat spread back to 20 and raised the max daily hits back to 15? And if so Mr. db, did you want to go Platinum for six months, or would you prefer a one year membership?

How 'bout you reverse those numbers, 15 to spread and 20 hits/day? And tweak the non-plat Karma Power formula a little more favorably?

I thought my suggestion was pretty good. Take your Karmic Power - right now you're 215 - that's 115 more than me. I think we have to make sure that Karma does not grow so fast that it becomes no fun anymore.

But, when I appeal to them to allow this to go through, will you make sure that I can tell them that this request was put forth by one of our six months + 3 months free Platinum Members or perhaps even higher? I just know that would seal the deal!

That was a great deal, but it was just because of the migration. Still, it was only a $49 savings over the current $100 off deal. And when I think of all the foolish things I have wasted $49 on in the past, it does not seem like a big difference. I would jump on the $199 deal today, because I bet you'll kick yourself if that one goes away too - and it might.

Yes, unless you turned off renewals or your address changed. And your current rate is locked in and cannot go up.
