CELL PHONE's at the gym

dannomite said:
Hope this question is ok to ask in this forum but I have to know...

What do you guys think about cell phones in the gym?

Personally I can't think of anything more annoying but I feel like I am alone on this sometimes. There are some big dudes at my gym who I see on them and can't believe it. I would think they would be more focussed but I guess not.

Personally I think it's very ru . . . one sec I got a phone call.

Saw a dude yesterday doing curls (which he did for about 45 minutes straight) stop in the middle of a set to answer his phone... I wanted to take the phone and shove it up his ass.

What about doctors and important business men? I personally keep my phone in the locker since I don't need it. I don't see why you guys let others bother you at the gym.

then you got these fucktards that want to take pics with their camera phone of people that are working out. I dont want some fuckhead taking my picture.

not to mention...how would you feel if that "doctor" was some kind of pedofile, had his camera phone on video mode, and was taking a video of you child while they were at the gym?

Haven't seen anyone trying to take a photo with one at the gym yet... man that would be creepy, not sure how I would react.

Well that's just creepy. I don't want some fuckhead masterbating to my picture either.

Are you saying cell phones should be banned from the workout floor because even people that NEED it might be using it for some sick shit? Really?

Well, an on-call doctor could have a beeper, it goes off, they hit the locker room and call who they need to call. Same deal with on-call responders. If you're a businessman with such pressing matters that take precedent over your workout, take care of it, then go to the gym......the only other justifable reasons is if you're wife is expecting a baby or somebody close to you is sick (even then you probably wouldn't be at the gym, and anyway the conversation is a few seconds and you're gone). Point being, legitimate uses for a cell at the gym are NEVER an annoyance or problem, it is the other 99.999% of the times people use them.

Most conversations are people wasting space calling their friends to make plans for a night of drinking, bragging about the previous night's drinking, guys fighting with their girlfriend, guys placing bets on games, or guys who aren't all that important trying to play the role of "president and CEO" to impress any girl within earshot, and just generally giving me the urge to shove the phone up their ass sideways. There is absolutely no reason a grown man or woman shouldn't have the attention span to concentrate on their workout and put the phone away for an hour or two. The only thing more annoying is cell phones in a movie theater.

I don't care. People are free to do whatever they want unless they hurt other people.
Hippie :D

I pretty much agree though; if they're talking loud enough to be distracting or are taking up equipment just to sit and chat, then it's a problem. Otherwise I could care less. Hell, most people at the gym aren't doing much good with their workouts anyway - the phone conversation could be the most productive aspect of their session :).
