anyone have them? how do people react to you with them, say in a bar, in a business type situation etc.

I am starting to get them and don't want them :worried:

i think they are cool as hell!!!!!!

what are you doing to get them.. there are lots of ways to help prevent or cut down on the damage depending on what your doing..

ah your screwed then! j/k

glad to see you took up Judo! how do you like it? whats your favorite thing so far? i just relearned a really really nice fast choke when someone is 'turtling up' oh so fast.. but anyway..

in judo you are kinda limited because there is no headgear allowed.. no maybe in training an instructor will allow you to wear it but probably not..

you can tape them up before practice and tape them against your head.

ice after practice then heat after 48-72hrs of ice

if you are REALLY worried and REALLY dont like it you could get it aspirated out. I do know people that do this to themselves but i would highly recommend NOT DOING THAT!!!

also you can tape them up and against your head after practices when not icing/heating

every little bit helps.

good luck

been doing it like 5 months now regularly (3-4 times a week)

my fave move is er.............ashiwaza probably lol, or maybe yoko shia gatame

What exactly are cauliflower ears? I know what it is, but is that blood from broken vessels or scar tissue? How long does it take to get, months or years? And doesn't the ear protection keep it from happening, or are you generally considered a punk in wrestling circles for wearing protection?

When the ear receives a blow , a blood clot develops under the skin. The connection of the skin to the cartilage is also disrupted. (Cartilage is the flexible tissue of which the outer ear is made of). Due to the blood clot, and sometimes even due to infection, the cartilage gets no blood. As a result, the cartilage is deprived of oxygen and important nutrients.
When this condition continues, eventually the cells of the cartilage die. Slowly the cartilage contracts and shrivels up, leaving a deformed outer ear, commonly called cauliflower ear. Once the cartilage dies, it cannot be reconstructed and the person is left with a permanent damage.
If the person approaches the doctor soon after the injury has occurred, the doctor can remove the blood clot, treat any infection, and re-establish the skin connection to the underlying cartilage. But any delay in treatment leads to the cauliflower ear.

incase you were wondering i wrote that write off the top of my head so there might be some small misprints..
