cash gone, ups

Anyone ever had trouble having cash taken from ups, Im waiting for a claims notice, witch they are telling me my package was destroyed, It made it just about there, I tracked it then it just stops, so I called ups, told them my pack #, they told me it was destroyed, can you beleive that. Anyone know the leagalities of cash in the mail, they cant seize it from me can they.
 
as far as i know, their is no legal troubles with sending cash in the mail...i may be having the same trouble...was it domestic or international...i sent out an envelope last thursday, and it supposedly still has not reached the UK!
 
Yes mine was heading to the UK also, After I tracked it and it didnt move for a few days I called, DESTROYED, thanks ups, I cant wait until the claims form comes, Im out a lot. not chump change. I thought I had nothing to worry about from ups, hopefully my source can be nice since I am cleaned out.

happen to me once...cash can be confiscated if the the senders or recievers addr3ess is under investigation for drug sales..ups is also known for stealing mail..west union
 
I know if i was a postman and saw a few grand in an envelope id find it hard to resist. but then id think of all you guys and have to pass on it
 
If you're gonna send cash, don't send everything you have together, and also make sure it is domestic. You really don't want to ever risk sending cash internationally. It's almost like flipping a coin if it will get there or not, and then you have to worry about even if it get's there will your package get back to you?
 
I`ve lived in Belgium, France and in the UK. In the first two countries, sending money with the mail has never been an issue. However, sending money by mail to the UK is the worst you can do. Some of my friends and myself have been ripped by the mail. Uk has a very bad reputation when it comes to this!!

how are you going to prove you had cash in it?

I mean, think about it, you could have been sending your nude photos over there. Or even just $20. But claiming $2000. How are you going to prove it was cash?

I think you are going to lose it.
 
I can only try, right? at least they will know they heve a theif in there system. If I cant get the money back Ill take up a collection on here!

Yeah, but think, it could have been any number of thousands of people who had access to it.

I agree, theft sucks.
 
If you're going to try to dispute this with UPS I hope you have a very good story as to why you were sending cash out of the US. This practice stinks of illegal activity, whether it is money laundering, drug sales, or tax evasion. They know this. So be very careful about what you tell them, it could come back to bite you in the ass.
 
Your package was not destroyed btw. It was simply identified. Some ups package boy is richer today.

Did you declare a value when you shipped the package out?

I work for UPS as a delivery driver. You are shit out of luck, UPS isn't going to pay a claim on cash. Also, there are so many pkgs. going through our system, no one could have selectively identified yours. It is so easy to ship anything you want through our system w/out getting caught. If it was packed with any care what so ever it should've made it. Did you send it in an express envelope? If so, the only thing I can think of happening is it got caught in one of the conveyor belts or slides and ripped open, then someone got their hands on it. Or another possibility is the label became unlegible and a clerk opened it to see if they could find an addressee listed and they took it. Sorry to hear about your loss, unfortunately there are dishonest people in every workplace.

Did you start out as a driver or have you ever been a package processor? My buddy's dad is a security consultant who has done alot of work for UPS. An experienced internal package handler, who may processes more packages per week than some drivers might in a year, can identify lots of neat things through simple sight and touch. Part of the training this guy did was teaching experienced package handlers to assume new positions as contraband detectives.

"Loss prevention" as they call it has grown rapidly in the last few years. Theft is a huge problem in certain facilities.



Regardless, I doubt it was simply "identified" by sight or touch. By identified, I meant to imply exactly what you said - the package likely became damaged, the money exposed, and some dude's now that much richer.
 
I worked 7 yrs. as a pkg handler before going driving. The pkgs. are coming so fast at you, you really don't know what is what. I'm sure UPS has a select few employees trained to catch certain contraband, but 99.9% of the pkg handlers aren't trained that way. From my experience, most theft that occurs within UPS are from the clerks. The clerks are ones the ones who rebox, retape pkgs that become opened, correct addresses, and indirect pkgs.
They quickly learn which ones contain jewelry and other items that have value.
 
Interesting. At the facilities where my friend's dad visited, he said the people working the jobs where boxes and envelopes were sorted into bins and trailers were the one's who stole most often.

No, but no one can steal your car, burgle your house, or buy steroids legally either.

Cash through the mail is ridiculous.
