IMO cardio is fine even on bulk, on my last cycle i did cardio porbably 2.5x a week on avaerge not for the fat burning effect as i alwasy ate more on cardio days but for health effects
i do feel if you are powerlifting cardio can be detrimental to gains and as such the dream of benching/ squatting huge should be measured against the need for cv perfomace
this is imo and in my experince
To what extreme are you measuring cardio ? like long distance running ?
Here's my week ..... mondays i teach a 60 minute spinbike class ( massive cardio workout )
Tuesday : chest workout ... bench
220lbs warm up set 12 to 14 reps
310lbs set 1 8 reps / set 2 8 reps
360lbs - set 1 6reps / set 2 4 reps
400lbs - 1 set 5 reps
420lbs - 1 set 3
flush set with 140lbs - 1 set 25 reps then off to incline cable flies then dips
finished off with lats and then triceps
wednesday off
Thursday 30 minutes on the eliptical trainer then " leg workout "
friday , shoulders and biceps
saturday off
sunday 25 minutes running the track followed by ab's calves and any other bodypart i feel needs to be picked on a bit more .
I'm 41 5' 10 " 230lbs with about 10 % bodyfat and still have power
Nothing record breaking but i feel i'm an all around athlete and not just a walking block .. so you can have cardio health and power at the same time
I'm sure there are a few NFL defensive backs that you would'nt want chasing you down a back alley !!! those MFers are big and can run a long time ... lol
