what are some of the best and different ways to do cardio? im looking for some proven and effective ways to do shorter type more intense type sessions...just want to know what works best and trying to keep it different each time

The most intense for me is tabata sprint intervals.

Get to an oval, sprint 20 seconds (max intensity), rest 10 seconds; repeat this cycle 7 times. There are many studies indicating this effective. However, I like to take the session longer. After each 8 cycles, I have a 2 minute rest, and do it again another 2 sets of 8. Note it took me quite a while before I could do this. First time I was bugged and wanted to vomit before even completing the 4 minute exercise circuit.

The tabata protocol could be done with front squats, lunges, power cleans etc, and other cardio machines (e.g., bike, elliptical, strider), but sprinting on oval is more intense.

What is your goal?

Fat loss?
Weight loss?
Cardio / Heart Health?

These are all factors...
i guess a combo of sorts...def some fat loss in the mid section and also heart health

Slower paced longer cardio will typically burn more fat deposits..

If you're looking at doing higher end cardio 85-90% of your Max heart rate, you'll end up loosing some muscle in the process.

what do you suggest? does it matter between different equipment? or is all basically the same for the most part? are you saying 30-45 mins?

Regardless of equipment its the intensity level that puts you into a catabolic mode. Your original post suggests you want to do cardio that doesn't take much time. I'm just hoping you're aware that high intensity cardio might not do for you what you want it to.

true, but i guess whatever gives the most desired results is what counts...if it takes 30-45 mins than thats what its going to take...
