Cardio/fitness question

Hey everyone, I was hoping someone here had experienced the same thing or is maybe a personal trainer that would know something about it, cause it's making me kind of nervous.

My girl is pretty much out of shape right now, but she's working her ass off at the gym (lots of cardio). Well today she outdid herself with a full 60 minutes ranging from moderate to heavy intensity.. like I was saying for her, it was a really good day.

Well after the gym throughout the rest of the day she's been getting these short lasting, sharp chest pains like right in the middle/upper portion of her rib cage.. like right below her neck.

It's not like she can't breathe or anything otherwise I'd be at the hospital right now, but she justs says it's uncomfortable for a couple seconds.

Is this normal for someone's who's basically out of shape and giving her body a shock workout? Will it stop eventually if she keeps up with the workouts?

Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

well she definitely shouldn't be jumping right into the cardio at 60 minutes intense if she is out of shape..perhaps she should resort to walking and getting her diet in check for a while and ease into higher levels of cardio.

as for the chest pain, I'd personally recommend seeing a doc if it isn't better soon

Oh I agree. She's been working up to the 60 minutes for a couple months now. I started her off at 25 or so and kept an eye on her from the other side of the gym. She didn't really want to be there so she was just dragging ass and just showing up and doing the minimum.

I slowly saw her progress and yesterday was clearly her best day so far. I'm hoping it's a turning point, but I don't want her to get discouraged from the chest pains.

I'm going to email her right now and see if she's still having the pains from yesterday or if a good nights sleep took care of it. Thanks for the input!

See your doctor regarding the chest pain, meanwhile check to see if the chest pain is there while intensity is moderate the whole workout session
