hey guys,

if one is trying to cut up without loosing mass, is it a really bad idea to do cardio first thing in the morning before food.

someone told me that even when cutting you never want your body to slip into catabolism, which is what happens whilst you sleep, so not replenishing first thing when you wake up is crazy apparently.

any opinions- it just that doing cardio first thing really cranks me up for the rest of the day and helps me lean out super fast

Do it, you aren't going to hinder gains much if at all if your nutrition is on point the rest of the day especially pre/post wo and pre-bed.

just have one or two scoops of whey with water right when you wake up and then go do cardio

This is a good idea and also make sure you get simple carbs and some whey immediately after your gym session.Keep carbs low for the rest of the day and have one day a week where you carb up.

If you were to drink whey before you did morning cardio, wouldn't your body use the whey as energy instead of burning fat?

Your body will use fat before it uses protein for energy I believe. Also the protein will help preserve the muscle and keep you from being catabolic. There is no 100% sure formula on this and many people do it either way.I have done it both ways and I didnt notice significant difference in performance or fat burned.

The human body is a mysterious piece of work. My body has gotten leaner taking in more calories and doing no cardio and hitting the weights hard as opposed to cutting calories and doing cardio like crazy.

Just because you have whey protein sitting in your stomach, I don't believe your body will say "Hmm I have whey in my stomach I better use it first before I tap my other sources of energy".

If someone had a chart that said your body like to tap X body part for burning calories first and then move to Y body part and then Z, I think all our lives would be much easier. Everyones metabolism is different and different things work for different people. I am realizing my potential and have noticed my body responds better to no cardio, increased clean calories and torturous weight training routines
